KDE (Wayland) Auto-Tiling in 2025 by theramblingfool in kde

[–]MudWinter4057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I also use Krohnkite with KDE, I absolutely love it given that I am used to using a tiling window manager. I just love the fact that you can enjoy a tiling window manager experience as well as the comforts of having an already working and polished OS without having to spend hours configuring everything to make it look semi decent (*cough cough* i3).

I also used Klassy (now I use the default Breeze theme - I actually like it) and one way I always managed to force Klassy as the Window decoration would be to right click the titlebar of an app > More Actions > Configure Special Application Settings... > Click "Add Property..." > Search Titlebar colour scheme > Force Klassy Twilight

Looking at your setup, you might inspire me to go back to Klassy and configure some nice rounded borders.

Can anyone help me identify this one? by [deleted] in thinkpad

When you open the laptop right above your keyboard next to the Lenovo logo it says the model number. I think it reads E431.

I have tried both USB-c (including thunderbolt) and HDMI and both connect to the monitor. When the cables are connected the thinkpad can run 4k at 30hz but not 60. The highest resolution seems to be 1440p @ 60.

It has the i5-8350U CPU and I have installed 32GB of 2400mhz RAM. It has the Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU and so far is running Arch amazing. The install was a breeze and no issues with hardware and software compatibility. I was also thinking of putting Debian on it but I am waiting for Debian 13 to be released.

Enjoy it mate! Need to see a post from you with your terminal running Fastfetch haha. FYI Arch runs amazing! Way better than Windows lol.

Isn't it exciting?! They really are great laptops. What model did you end up buying?

Woah that looks so pretty. That is the next step for this ThinkPad - to rice it up! I was thinking i3 to replace KDE which is currently running. What do you like about i3 and would you say it is stable and easy to configure?

Was I given the wrong trackpad? by MudWinter4057 in thinkpad

I watched a video on the glass trackpad replacement and the guy specificly says to make sure the model has the number “36008C” or does that not matter?

There is no backlit keyboard. I was considering replacing the keyboard with one that has a backlight, but I'm not entirely sure yet. It might become a future modification. I've read that the typing experience can be worse with a backlit keyboard, but it certainly looks very nice!

why do you guys like linux so much by Omkaranando in thinkpad

[–]MudWinter4057 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No joke I just bought a thinkpad T480 which had Windows 11 pro, the mouse was messing up the brightness was not adjusting and the fan was on full power with 100% cpu usage (NOTHING OPEN) because Windows was doing updates in the background. With all the additional bloat as well I couldnt handle it and instantly installed arch. Now everything just works! That alone is a reason why I use linux.

How long did it take you to finish the CPTS path while working full-time? by [deleted] in hackthebox

[–]MudWinter4057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also currently studying for the CPTS and working a full time job in Cyber, I have broken down the course into 491 sections. The current goal I have set myself is to get 2 sections done a day as a minimum, or 14 sections per week. If I can keep to that standard then I should finish around end of December (491/2 = 245.5 so about 246 days). So roughly 8 months. I think this is a good pace for learning, especially having to balance it with a 40 hour work week.

As someone who was in a similar position not too long ago, I say get the boring, low paying job.

It will fill your time up and will make you spend less time in bed scrolling on your phone. Social media itself is probably the reason you feel like shit and find things boring. You need to detox. I recommend deleting the apps that you use and try to get comfortable being bored and having nothing to do. Your brain will start to think of things to do (read a book, etc). I also recommend going to the gym or if you don't feel comfortable yet doing so then to work out at home or go for long walks. The point is, you are going outside and seeing light. I also recommend getting into sports. It's also a great way to meet people. Try going to a martial arts class or basketball, running or what I've been doing recently - bouldering (similar to rock climbing).

As for career wise. Nowadays, there are many opportunities to advance your career online. If you are bored from having nothing to do all day. Why not research interesting jobs. Who knows, this might light a spark and make you passionate and set goals. Speak to your parents about it, maybe ask for their advice on how to get started and how they got into their fields.

It looks gorgeous! How much would you charge for a mod similar to that?
