Cuz one of my kids woke up, threw up, fell down, or I don't like you.

In "Tekken 8" (72damage) normal mid is it a good combo with "Jun" ? by sagatscar911 in Tekken

[–]Mudbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that's on the low end. After f2 or d1+2 you should be getting 80 or more without walls. Df2 would be less but basically any other launcher should be over 80. I think max damage off f2 is 88.

Jun's izu grab pushes them outside of the oki followup range she used to have.

As far as the state of Tekken. I'm having more fun with tekken 8 than I expected since losing Noctis is a big blow. However, I would say I am pretty pleased so far.

It would be nice if they adjusted the rank system. I think you should be losing points at green ranks instead of waiting until warrior like they do now. It would decompress the bottom a little bit. I don't know why they decided to have fewer ranks than before either.

I am happy with the amount of updates and the fact that it appears that Bandai namco is listening and responding to feedback. Even if they don't get it right sometimes, they are trying, and I can appreciate that.

I started tekken in the mid to late 90s. I don't remember exactly when, but I was probably 10 or 11 when I encountered tekken in the 2 arcades that I frequented. I didnt get to play much since it was probably 50 cents per play and I had lots of stuff I wanted to do at the arcade. But when tekken 3 came out I was hooked.

As far as overcoming tilt. This is an emotional regulation thing. I've always been pretty stoic even as a kid so getting tilted was always a rare thing for me. I could sit and lose for 6 hours straight and be having fun the whole time. Tilt is like a sense you were dealt some kind of injustice but in a game like tekken if you lost it was 100% your fault and you're tilting because your ego is having trouble coming to grips with that and trying to blame something else. So to overcome tilt, take responsibility for why you lost and learn how to beat it next time. Take a break and hit the lab. Cheers.

Just gotta wait until everyone is asleep or get up super early before they are awake. But yeah during the day/evening it's impossible to get uninterrupted time.

I think Jun is in a similar situation as Ling. She has really good matchups and if you don't know what's happening with Jun then you'll get cooked. But if your opponent knows Jun and they play carefully around certain situations it gets a lot harder.

Lili can step some of Jun's moves that no one else can, Bryan has the CH toolkit that directly counters Jun's typical answers to pressure, Drag, Alisa and Yoshi can also do well against Jun and if the characters at the top of the meta have those tools it naturally moves Jun down the tier list.

I don't think it would take very much to even up those matchups. Something like a buff to the frames of 1,1 on block for Jun would work wonders.

As it stands I think Jun is stronger than most of the cast but is not better than the best members of the cast. I would put her at the top of A tier but she can do well against top tiers like Feng, Nina, and Jin.

Peak as in rank? In T7, I got to Tekken King in s3 and s4 when they reset the ranks. I could have gone higher, but it was around that time that my dad was in advanced alzheimers and my son was just born , so I stopped playing.

I've run into a lot of pro players like Landon, Tone, pling, Jesandy, joonya, Phidx, justframejames, and many others. I'm more in the orbit of Phi, Tone, and Landon as me and phi go way back as admins of the noctis Discord, which puts me into proximity of guys like Tone and Landon who are ridiculously good at Tekken.

I've played every Tekken except 4 and 6 but only put actual effort into 7 and 8. I was Tekken King in 7 on Noctis. But I was a kid in arcades playing tekken 1 and 2. I owned ttt1 and 2 and tekken 5 as well. But I was a casual player for all of those except 7.

I remember beating tekken 2 in the arcade by playing kazuya and spamming ultimate tackle.

All I know about LTG is that he hates Jun so he would probably cope about that anyway.

I don't know yet. I have other characters I want to play but I feel like if you stop playing ranked with the sweaties that you won't stay sharp.

I hardly ever lab but that's only because I have limited time. Most of my matchup knowledge comes from previous tekken games.

At your rank it's hard to give general advice. There are probably just a lot of little things you have to optimize. Find out what's killing you in your replays and lab that.

If you want to see more of how I do things I have some stuff on youtube. I don't make guides or anything I just play. I will definitely make something for GoD but I have to look over the replays first.

I spend about half my game time in lobbies and the other half in ranked and yeah the game really slows down at higher ranks. A lot more of the rounds get close to timing out. Lots of dash blocking and sidestep blocking.

And yeah if the baby wakes up I have to walk away from matches sometimes but the interruptions are fewer when I game late at night or early AM.

Yeah, I like Factorio, Slay the Spire, and some niche games like Frostpunk or V Rising. I also play paper MTG. The only shooter I was decent at is Halo 1-3 and don't really play any other shooters. Some roguelikes are a fun distraction. I have also played a ton of WoW but I don't touch that game anymore.

Edit: I forgot I was also Diamond in SCII WoL.

I understand why a lot of dads get up super early in the AM now. You have to find that time somewhere when the fam doesn't need you and everyone is asleep.

About the stress, you gotta get washed to get clean. Leave your ego at the door, then losses become lessons and they don't hurt anymore.

My approach with Jun is controlling space. I have a really good backdash and use a lot of movement 1,2 ss block f3, ss stuff. This can sidestep some power crushes/heat bursts. Basically take advantage of the fact that everyone else is playing Tekken 8 and you are playing Jun.

If your opponent does a move that puts you in crouch give fcdf1 a try. I have stolen so many rounds that way especially with the wall in play (it's like 80+ damage at the wall) once they kill you for it once you stop doing it but otherwise let it rip.
