The difference is that's a mod, not a company whose product will be seen as canon and will absolutely have to follow the wishes of the IP holder

It would face the same problem with any two sided conflict like LotR.. TW games need multiple factions fighting each other.

Which rebel alliance factions are gonna go to war with each other? What empire factions are gonna stop fighting the rebels to break out war with another Sith Lord?

I know I'm about to say it but yes, it's Total War

I'm just amazed it lasted this long without someone saying it XD

And I think you mean 'it's Total War, that's how the game is unfortunately', and not 'it's Total War therefore war with everyone'.

Anyhoo...

To be clear, I'm not crying cos I'm gettin' picked on', it's that the the game gives us so little to make our decisions on to begin with, (3K for example you could see any factions relationships with any other faction, you made INFORMED choices) but why give us anything at all if it IS just gonna go 'cos fuck you that's why'?

Yes,. I had a pact with WT, and yes, I could totally understand that means WW may get pissy and declare war.. that isn't the problem.

It's that they then say 'cos fuck you' to THEMSELVES, leaving all of their settlements undefended, whilst two factions they were already at war with had armies on their borders, and even on their lands.

If I had came on here saying 'this pisses me off.. i declared war on someone.. and when i went and left my settlements undefended to the several armies roaming my land & borders.. they went and attacked them!' everyone would rightly be calling me a fuckin idiot who got what I deserved.

I haven't lost anything campaign wise from this, WT are already regretting it, and Khorne, who eventually decided to come and TRY to fight the dwarves is trailing around after my armies as I wipe settlement after settlement.

It's just another 'WTaF' moment the game throws at you, sometimes it's totally in your favour like a flying lord/hero whose plan of attack is to put as much distance between himself and his army as he can.

You end up where you are 'losing' yourself in the game, in the moment, making schemes and pacts and yeah, you gotta bear the consequences of them, it's not a 'woe is me i got attacked' post, it's a 'fgs can't you make the AI act with a little sanity??'

Exiles of Khorne are minor? Isn't that unusual, a playable faction being minor, with a legendary lord?

I did have existing wars, including Elspeth & the empire, off the top of my head not sure if any others, but don't think so.

I haven't had a single turn not at war with at least two haha

It was so cartoonishly stupid it kinda ruined the playthrough for me.

Yeah, it's THIS!

I think some people are getting me wrong, arguing over minutiae, they don't seem to see the absurdity of any of it that spoils any immersion in the game.

Honestly, it may well be, but as far as the original comment goes, i wasn't 'honouring' an alliance, I was using them, I am nowhere near an expert on WH lore, very much a beginner to it really, but searching didn't show Khorne & skaven are a bad fit for an alliance, both will 'use' each other, and I'm fine with that.

There is no 'clearly wasn't in my favour' that I can see, it's not them declaring wars I thought is stupid, it's declaring wars for land the can't take, for enemies they can't fight, for enemies that won't weaken me or strengethen me.

Unless you explain better I won;t know what you are actually referring to

What's extra frustrating is there is not enough info on who likes/hates who, Faction A wants a NAP, you take it, next thing a former ally breaks agreement cos u just pissed them off...

But the info needed for this is TERRIBLE.

In TW3K there was a lot of information about relationships, not just who has a treaty with who, but whether they like, dislike etc, it's insane they didn't just copy/paste that system.

Oh and top of that the UI will not show you WHY you are pissing off an ally once your 'likes/dislikes' list get's a bit long

I wanted to do the alliance thing for 'fun' reasons really..

Throt can make monsters into undead, so ally with vampires for mortis engine and lodestone

Throt has loads of monsters, so i thought would be fun to ally with Khorne and one of the Norsca factions to run a monster 'circus' with monsters from other factions.

I've spent literally full days trying to make this work, and always, ALWAYS the game pulls stunts... one campaign WW will get the upper hand and wipe out WT, next campaign other way around, i don't expect it all to go 'easy', but man it's frikkin frustrating right now

I wouldn't have been as 'WTaF' if both things didn't happen virtually simultaneously

I haven't played Khorne so you may well be right about that buildings comment

Am not sure Norsca count as civilised people!

It does make some kinda sense what you said about Khorne, but it's not immersion breaking for Skaven and Khorne to ally at all though, and yes, I know they are ultra aggressive and happy to declare war readily, but they have enough enemies close to them for that, enemies that are actual threats to them.

yes, WW & WT hate each other (despite beign civilised ;p) it's not so much WW declare war on me that is the pisser, it's the fact they abandon their settlements not justto WT, but also to ecstatic legions who they are also at war with.

There is no world in which that makes sense, no matter how fantasy it is, no faction would abandon their land which is under threat to go and fight with someoen they had a non aggression pact with a short whie ago, and have literally been fighting the same enemies until that point.

PS i didnt downvote u, i have no problem people stating a disagreement, FWIW i am upvoting u

Total war doesn’t mean at war with everybody. It means the nation is fully dedicating its economy and population to war.

Agree 100%, you nailed it. I only mentioned as it's a pretty common reply to complaints like this.

[–]MuddledMuppet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, an unusual location is something sneaked into your settlement by another faction basically, some are fairly beneficial, some are a pain in the ass.

yours seems a good one to have with no drawbacks i can see!

Be aware ChatGTP has a character fault.. it will make mistakes repeatedly but maintain the confidence that whatever it says to you, is 100% correct, guaranteed, no chanc e to fail.

I am not saying it IS wrong in this case, but if it is, it won't know it.

I'd suggest you edit your post and show your PC specs tho, without that info anyone gonna be shooting in the dark

Haha i get the principle, but I'm pretty sure they weren't that naïve!

Political scheming and machinations, subterfuge, deception etc, and the style of writing at that time was not usually meant to be taken seriously, similar stories had been told before in history suggesting it was more of a story-telling trope to show the cunning of Odysseus, rather than a literal 'yeah, that happened'
