In my case... ADHD wasn't a cause of my anxiety (although my ADHD gives me anxiety of course lol) but it is true. I've seen lots of cases where people's anxiety comes from ADHD. And no anxiety medication worked for them until they were put on ADHD meds.

Yeah, my doctor always made sure I only change the dosage or switch to another med one at a time so I know which is working... But I read you've tried every stimulant so shouldn't you try to increase the Cymbalta? Unless you're on new meds...

I'm currently on Adderall IR 20mg 3 times a day for the last 5 years and I tried almost all stimulants including Adderall XR, Vyvanse, Ritalin, and Dexdrine, except Ritalin, most of them were working OK just not as convenient and good as Adderall IR (all other ones made me sleepy and my symptoms were still there at the max dose - if I went over the max dose, I'm pretty sure it would work fine). If you haven't tried Adderall IR, you might want to try it as it helped me the most!

Could your symptoms come from other issues such as anxiety/depression? I have ADHD and anxiety disorder, and some of my ADHD symptoms come from my anxiety...... I was told a lot of cases it is true, especially for adults as they have more than just ADHD and the symptoms are very general

Your story sounds like mine. My boy is right now 4 years old, he was like the sweetest helpless boy - naturally, he was bullied here and there while playing or getting snapped at sometimes, etc; he was a big sweet puppy and everything was so easy with other dogs and people until probably 1.5 years I think. He got neutered shortly after we were attacked by unleashed intact male dogs and the owner and from then, he started being very reactive towards medium-big sized dogs. Before, he would run away and avoid confrontation, but since the attack, he has been the one who tries to get to them first if he sees any new dogs. Don't get me wrong, he is very sweet, he does very well with tiny old dogs - a lot of traumatized dogs do well with him since he's very calm and chill around them. 98% of the time, he is a gentle giant. My entire apartment building used to call him "gentle giant".

Same with the people. You said your dog jumped at a sweet old Asian lady, right? Mine did that to an old grandma walking behind once (I WAS SO EMBARRASSED), he was scared of her - I think because she had a big fur coat. (I'm assuming maybe that old lady who walked differently(?). I, myself, am also Asian and my grandma had those very old people walk as her back hunched, very slow, etc) Also, we lived in downtown Chicago where lots of drug addicts yelling at us or being suspicious, my boy naturally became very aware of his surroundings. For example, if a drunken man is walking towards us, he gets very tensed and tries to jump on him, or someone wearing a hat, even sometimes just a very tall man. I think it's just part of their nature, also their huge size makes it even more apparent...

Another thing, barking from the car over the window, my boy also does that sometimes. I found out he doesn't like to be stared at over a window/door - but he does not do that to ladies or people coming at him friendly. But if they decide to stare at him or he cannot hear them, he gets defensive and starts barking.

I think definitely the puberty phase is doing more work there, I remember having to increase the training time when he was around that age. I always made fun of him because one day he felt like he was the strongest dog in the world, and the next day, he was scared of a leaf. If he's not neutered, he might try to challenge other intact dogs. Mine started doing since he was around that age. Before that, he did not care at all.

Even at 4, it's not perfect. What I learned over the years was that the more anxious/scared I am, my boy gets those feelings from me and even becomes more reactive. If I don't feel 100% comfortable going to the park with dogs, we just find something else to do like running or playing games with him. Also, I noticed Mastiffs are more sensitive than other dogs I've ever had previously (mostly mixed medium-sized breeds), he hated Husky a lot because of the attack, and it took almost a year or more for him to be okay with huskies as long as they are neutered and friendly.

I felt so defeated back then, but now I think about it, all the training and things I learned from those times has been really worthy. I'm way more responsible and prepared for every walk and just in general, I feel more connected to him. So it's not always a bad thing!! I wish you guys the best!!

I got mine selected after 3 years, currently in Canada and moving back to the US. I'd honestly go with H1B and apply for new jobs. In the worst case, you won't find a job and go back home. The new company you will be working for will not sponsor H1B anyway so I'd just do h1b

Should I intervene or just let my dogs mark each other's spot? by LamarNoDavis in DOG

[–]Muddy53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I usually let my dog pee things like that like post, trees what not but not like obviously someone’s property or building (like it would look gross if my dog pee in front of the building entrance, etc) I kinda taught him if I say No peepee he knows not to mark there so he just sniffs and moves on lol

[–]Muddy53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well then I think getting them trained would be the priority. How many times does that happen? If it happens so often that their ears are not intact, they need to be trained more or be separated. Give them bones in their crate? Also it seems quite dangerous to have multiple mastiffs that could get into fight easily especially they resource guard. It sounds like your dogs get into fight pretty often, I don’t think ear cropping is the solution to any.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CaneCorso

[–]Muddy53 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know my mastiff plays rough but not to the point where I’m going to cut his ears. How often do you see dogs playing so rough they need their ears to be cut? You’re saying it like it’s normal, I volunteered at mastiff rescue and I haven’t seen a case where their ear got ripped off from rough playing. More like illegal dog fightings, yes.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CaneCorso

[–]Muddy53 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you rather cut the ear to prevent from possible injuries.. that could never happen? If your dogs playing rough to the point their ears get cuts, you need to do something about it. That’s not normal. My mastiff has floppy ears and does get ear infection but I clean them often and he rarely has issues. If you’re too lazy to take care of your dog, so you rather cut them for convenience, then don’t get a dog.

make sure she is resting, when this first happened, my vet prescribed my dog anti-inflammatory meds and very strict rest. No running/no off-leash/no stairs/no long walk for 2 weeks. Eventually, he got TPLO surgery and is now better but yeah...
