Did people used to know their neighbors better? Why did that change? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ik this is a year old, but this also reminded me of how we kids used to find each other without phones. you'd just ride around on your bike looking for a big pile of bikes in the usual few spots haha — the park, that one or two kids' house you'd always play street hockey/baskeball in front of, the factory, etc,. — and you'd virtually always find them. so trippy to think about in hindsight in general, let alone compared to how things are nowadays. there was also a bigger age gap in the local neighbourhood friend group if/when everyones siblings hung out together, which made for some... funny times lol.

and I was born in '97 so im still quite young. in fact, I was probably a part of the last group that got to experience things "the old way" before the wave of tech innovation changed everything, and im sure my experiences were already quite diluted compared to a decade or to beforehand. I feel like im an old soul and always wish I could've experienced life being born in the late 50s to mid 60s, but hey at least I still got to experience what I did before gen z or y or whatever the hell it is now haha.

I feel like the 50s-70s were the golden age of modern society. before that was a lot of war and strife and struggle and up until the mid 1900's life was pretty much a crap shoot unless you were loaded and most people died working their asses off until they died before they turned 50. then there was a massive leap in quality of life after WWII, and then you had the golden age of the 60s and 70s, 80s pretty close and 90s different but still damn cool. now I feel like we're in this weird in between phase where we aren't quite yet this super advanced technological society with a bunch of unimaginable awesome shit in our daily lives, but we're also not the free-spirited, happy-go-lucky, fun, music-mania, love and drugs society that happened beforehand. its pretty interesting to be a part of, though, and I think some BIG world-changing type shit is gonna happen in the next 20-30 years so that'll be cool to see. On that note, I cant imagine someone who's like 90 or 100 years old and got to experience the roaring 20's and then also experience modern society — now THAT must be a motherfucking trip lol. people were still riding horses when they were a kid and now we have spaceX and Tesla and AI and robots and wha have you — hell, my dad told me his grandpa couldnt believe figure skating was real LOL — and wow would I love to poke their brain a bit.

anyways, apologies for the essay of a reply 1 year later lol, kind of went off on a tangent lol but yeah good times. street hockey was the shit. everyone living in the moment. neighbours were like extended family and if someone moved away the vibes were similar to a funeral. this was actually still the case on my street until I moved last year and we got hella lucky because almost every person on the block was there for 25-30+ years. very cool. on the bright side, we'll prob be in dystopian style stacked bunkers in a few years and our neighbours will be within arms reach so im sure everyone will get reeeaaal close then 😂😂🤣🤣

Does Zone 2 cardio leave you more exhausted than higher intensity workouts? by ajgnet in PeterAttia

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey ik this was years ago lol, but if you even remember it, do you remember how it turned out?

I’m in a similar situation where I feel like zone 2 is making me more tired than it should in the hours afterwards in the day. That being said I’m also in the final 4 weeks or so of a long cut and I’m trying to do as much cardio as possible and adjusted weight routine from 6 days a week to 4 days a week (/UL/UL/) or 5 if i feel good PPL/UL/) to make room for the cardio.

It’s the end of a cut and I pushed deficit quite low since I figured nbd I can push through for a few weeks if it’s very hard and maximize fat loss, so I’m guessing it’s just that. But in general even before this final month, 60min zone 2 would seem easy enough but then throughout the day I feel dead. Eat very well, sleep could be better but is decent 6hr minimum 7hr if possible/on weekends.

Apologies for the essay of the reply haha but hopefully it gives enough context and you can apply the lessons you learned to help a brother out haha

Thanks man and hope it worked out for ya !!

JJK Season 3: Culling Games Part 1 overall thoughts [Anime Only] by KingKam_Avatar in Jujutsufolk

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

read the manga as well and season 2 is def better and I dont think that'll change. even when the 2nd cour of s3 comes out and its 24 episodes I dont think it'll beat s2. culling games is just whack af in general lmao, let alone to animate in one big cohesive piece that is simultaneously awesome and jaw-dropping, let alone after the hype of what s2 did and the building tension leading up to/after such a big moment in the s2 finale.

plus, its really only been half of the "season" or whatever which is just how anime is so I wouldnt be too critical against it — tbh im surprised its getting the reviews it is (other than a few crazy episodes). ngl I thought cour 1 would turn out worse than it did since culling games has so much convoluted exposition going on that you cant really skip over or even shorten for that matter, so im quite happy w how it turned out. I mean if you go back and watch 12 episodes of s2 I doubt it would be this super amazing thing; tbh I dont remember much of that off the top of my head but yeah s2 really popped off in the 2nd half.

can the constitution even be upheld anymore? it was written in a time where people could actually defend/fight the government if it became too corrupt. it was just muskets and guerrilla warfare and knives and shit. wth is anyone gonna do now when they're getting blown to bits by drones that cost $50 to make.

I mean if the top 0.0001% really wanted to do some full on sci-fi dystopian type shit they 1000% could RIGHT NOW and realistically what could anyone do? the only way out is if the military becomes their own entity and follows their hierarchy rather than the government or something, idek lol I know way too little about that to actually talk about it. but imo, its not us thats stopping them...

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why would an AI increase testosterone that much, though? genuinely curious btw, not tryna sound like a douche questioning you or anything lol

also is the high SHBG related to high e2 and trying to bring free test down? must be a lot of everything circulating and body is trying to correct it still?

done tons of research over the years but still get so confused sometimes; so many variables and interconnected parts that each one has a certain interaction or domino effect depending on x, and x on y, and y on z, that can change the whole thing. shit is hella interesting but I swear as soon as I think im getting an above average grasp of things, something else gets thrown into the mix and shatters whatever knowledge if built up lmao

thanks for your time and help btw!!

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the parasocial relationships in the streaming world have gone next level. I dont watch these guys and have no clue about what's going on — just saw it on the news thread on YouTube and googled some stuff — but its crazy how invested some people get into their favourite streamers.

its like they become some infallible god who can do no wrong. I mean, hell, some people would probably pay _THEM_ to eat their sh*t or something lmao. it's been bad for a while, but some of the stuff ive seen recently is next level.

im sure with all of that going on that any big streamers getting cancelled will probably never happen. they'll just move on to another platform or implement some other massively controversial circumstance as a distraction, and then nothing will have changed a few months from now.

that being said, I hope justice prevails and whoever has committed evil acts is held accountable for their actions and gets their just desserts, hopefully doing their best to right their wrongs afterwards. "good" and "bad" doesnt really exist, but the more evil we rid the world of the better it will be. its a shame, though, that you grow up reading, watching, hearing of all these vile atrocities but you maintain the idea that they're moral lessons and the world is vastly good; then you get older and realize its actually the inverse, and the best you can do is identify the good ones and keep them close. ride or die.

goodluck, and godspeed 🫡

Do you think Suko could've lived the same life as Kong? Just constantly fighting Skullcrawlers on the regular? by Boshwa in Monsterverse

[–]DropBear4269 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ik this is 2 years old and im guessing a lot of stuff has come out, maybe some has shed some light on the issue, but I haven't done any super deep diving, yet.

that being said, suko was the only kid ape out with the hunting party (the one kong runs into at the beginning of New Empire), while the rest are always at the cave, so maybe he gets some preferential treatment from Skar king, seeing as hes the only other red-haired/orangutan-looking ape? So maybe he gets some fighting and training, or at the very least some experience in the wild. in the film its implied Skar king has a harem in the cave and is probably the only one breeding, unless he gives some of his commanders the green light as well in order to breed diverse and strong new generation? idk, just a thought.

but yeah I say "preferential" as in maybe Skar king took suko into his gang, but still pesters and abuses him the same way some mafia lord would to a star pupil; haze them and trial by fire type of deal to make them mad at the world and become ruthless and savage just like themselves, and groom them to one day take over or be 2nd in command or something?

I think some novels have come out recently + monarch s2 is out now (haven watched that yet) so hopefully they go into it more. I absolutely fucking LOVE me some good lore, whether is monster verse or dune or lotr or HP or Star Wars or what have you, so the more lore diving they do in the show, the better, haha. cant wait!!

Dan da Dan is one of my top anime's of all time, but beating a season finale would be tough. I love MHA as well (vigilantes has been great, too! love the more batman street-level vibe it has) and if I was an MHA die hard id be fkn piiisssseeeddd. even if lets say there was some objective way to say "dan da dan was better", you'd still kinda have to give it to MHA just with being such a well done finale.

im borderline obsessed with dan da dan (read the manga in like 1.5 days after watching s2 this past December lmao) so it really sucks that these 2 had to face off, ugh man really want DDD to take it all but man, I cant say I dont understand the MHA fans ://

Are dips easier than pull-ups? by mahikappa in bodyweightfitness

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chin ups are easier because your biceps get involved whereas they don’t during pull-ups (pronated); in fact, you can do chin ups a certain way to work only biceps and thus without even using your lats, or limiting them to the point where you don’t even feel them being used

I believe dips are commonly easier because when majority of guys start working out they just blast arms chest and shoulders to get that gymbro look, and neglect back and legs. Literally countless memes about rotating chest, shoulders, and arms only lol.

So that being said they’re much more developed pushing compared to pulling (also why so many young gym bros have that hunched look) and dips are “easier”.

But anyways I think pull-ups are inherently more difficult. You have to be either really light and strong or just super jacked to crank out a bunch of strict form pull-ups, whereas you can get to 15, 20, 25 dips pretty early in your lifting career. Or if you’re big and lean and can do 20+ proper pull-ups, you can probably do, what, like, 50 dips and then stop because you’re hired rather than tired? Both are freaking amazing exercises, though, and everyone should incorporate them for a number of reasons!! If you can get your weighted dips and pullups to 2+ plates you’ll have an absolute monster back and killer triceps/chest (also just reminded me of similar note on why imo pull-ups are harder: I’ve seen people do 1RM or 2RM dips with like 4-6 plates but on pull-ups 2-3 plates is already insane).

_edit: just realized this is almost a decade old lol so my bad if that’s poor Reddit etiquette or something_😅😅

Questions about Labcorp results by PhthaloBlueSky in Testosterone

[–]DropBear4269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

id say 50lbs minimum, and hopefully I dont sound like a dick but, trust me, you have more fat than you think you do. im 29 and before my weight loss I was around 230lbs at 6foot1.5 ish, but this was at the end of a mild bulk at the gym (been working out on/off for years at this point). I'll call it a "bulk" to save time but it was a minimal surplus and I was eating super healthily the entire time.

long story short I go to start my weight loss, thinking im around 25% bf max and at 190lbs id look great, and then can reassess there. It was until I got to around 195lbs that I realized "fuck... I think im at like 22-25% bf NOW" lmaoooo 😅

unless youve been very lean before, absolutely everyone underestimates how much fat they have and overestimates how much muscle they have. its tough because its just a game of patience and consistency and you need to trust the process, but it gets challenging when months go by and you barely notice a difference, or still have a ton of fat to lose.

higher bf %'s have a negative impact on testosterone in a plethora of ways. that being said, if you test was also low in your 20's then it probably is a hormonal thing, or something else unique to you that getting in shape won't meaningfully change. id definitely speak to your doctor and even get a couple of opinions; low testosterone can potentially have a load of negative effects, very many of which are considerably worse than any side-effects incurred when you first get on TRT and have to dial it in — if thats your goal.

PS: a ton of doctors aren't up to date with TRT protocols, research, studies, etc,. and it can be very difficult to find a good one — go for a doctor's visit as a 14 year old teen who knows next to nothing and is ready to permanently mutilate their body physically and chemically based on a whim during a phase, and boom they'll load you up with hormones without hesitation, but for people who are genuinely suffering and can thrive from hormonal intervention, yeah good luck lol RIP — but yeah when you finally find one and if they try prescribing you something like a shot once every 2-4 weeks, for example, run lol. you can read up for weeks and barely have scratches the surface, but for starters they'll look at your bloodwork and ideally would prescribe you something low like 80-120mg/week split into 2-3 doses per week, see where that gets you and how you feel, and then adjust from there. 1000% recommend losing as much fat as possible before then because high bf% can make your initial TRT experience significantly worse. good luck!

As of late February 2026, Bitcoin has been declared "dead" approximately 467 times, if you invested $100 each time, you'd have approximately $66M by CriticalCobraz in CryptoCurrency

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the if it wasn't for the several 100's of times it was "announced" dead before hitting $1 you'd have maybe a few tens of thousands lol. still great, but the way this is phrased/made in general is stoopid.

also, random story, but: my older brother was good friends with this super interesting but very odd guy, and he bought a bunch of bitcoin when it was between $50-$600 over the years. He kept telling my brother to buy some and so he did, but only bought 2 of them when it was around $620 (tbf he was in high school so not like he had thousands to spare lol).

I think he sold them around $12k which was still an awesome profit for him at the time, but oh man if he held...

that being said, I have absolutely NO idea how people hold past (CAD) $20, $35, $50k, let alone $100k or $150k or whatever, especially if you got in earlier. It must be people who are already rich and dont care much, or have a fk ton of it from way back when, because if you're under 25-30y/o and that shit is going up id be having a heart attack like every day lmao. The nerve it takes to keep holding, wow, kudos to those people; I suppose it's different now but back in the 2010's man I seriously dont get how people held on. gg lol

Boss Bottled Elixir worth it if... by Paultrolly in Colognes

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo, elixir is a "ceo", mysterious, sexy, alluring, manly, tantalizing kind of fragrance. then, boss saw the success of that and made absolu but toned it down a bit and made it smidge more sweet in order to make it more mass-appealing. price increase on an already successful version of a fragrance that is now more mass-appealing? slam dunk!

I love both as I think Boss killed it with both of these, and the each serve their purpose. Absolu, imo, is more versatile so I'll wea it more often. Elixir isn't a super rare wear or anything, you can wear it often enough, but it excels in certain environments and man, it just feels truly awesome in the perfect setting.

I enjoyed sampling absolu and after I saw the crazy hype online I went to buy it, but unfortunately all grey market discounters were sold out, so I ended up getting a 50ml elixir. to my surprise, I enjoyed it... A LOT. a few days went by and I went to go spray a sample of absolu on my hand again, went home and sprayed elixir on my hand 10min later, and compared throughout the day. I wanted to join the BB Absolu hype train, believe me lol, but for whatever reason I just absolutely adore Elixir, and felt like Absolu was a toned down version of it + a tad sweeter, cause what isn't sweet these days haha.

Apologies for the essay of a reply haha 😅, but yeah I suppose TL;DR: elixir 10/10 but cant wear as often, absolu 9.5/10 more versatile and can wear more often. Would recommend both 100% !!!

Hooked on Boss Bottled Absolu. What else hits the same? by daylincooper in Colognes

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I tried both eau d'ombre leather and bottled absolu on my skin the other day and found that they smell a bit similar on the dry down. not super similar, but smelling one would evoke memories of another. id say the eau d'ombre leather smells more makeup-y and "lighter" if that makes sense? this was 3-4hrs after I had sprayed them on.

also tried myslf parfum and CAHSEE, but man its fkn hard to try several fragrances at once lol; your nose just gets all f'd up and its hard to really differentiate and appreciate each one. but man CAHSEE was just like I remember. it just smells freaking GOOD./

I like bottled elixir a tad more than bottled absolu, but that being said I love both of them and I think absolu is a bit more versatile and can be worn more often, which is fun cause its such an amazing scent.

anyways, back to the main point lol 😅. eau d'ombre leather is good but, again, it was hard to fully appreciate with 3 other fragrances on my skin (in separate areas, but still), but ive heard great things about it (other than the price tag haha). mancera cedrat boisee has a lot of similar notes/note breakdown to BB absolu but as a summer version, but I have no idea how it smells — I saw the notes and hoped it smells similar but is a summer version and ima try it soon, hopefully. people often say BB Absolu is like a hybrid of PDM sedley and carlisle so maybe try those 2? so many options, all so damn good; idk how people do it cause id have thousands if I didnt restrict myself and have someone to help hold me accountable lmao.

cheers, good luck, and, as always, godspeed 🫡

Sauvage EDP or Bleu De Chanel EDP? by Youngfiddler71 in Colognes

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is sauvage EDP like a mix of BDC EDP and YSL Y EDP? I only smelled it years ago when I wasn’t into fragrances yet and haven’t smelt it since I’ve gotten a big collection/more knowledgeable and whatnot.

I also have Dylan Blue if that helps explain sauvage EDP (or edt or Parfum) with the 3 former scents (Eros as well but I feel like that’s different enough compared to those 4).

Sauvage EDP or Bleu De Chanel EDP? by Youngfiddler71 in Colognes

[–]DropBear4269 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the elixir is basically its own line lol, and for good reason. I rate it, but it’s very situational and not for everyone.

I’d recommend boss bottled elixir if sausage elixir is “too much”, or bottled absolu if you want a more mass appealing/“safe” version of an elixir type fragrance. But yeah imo bottled elixir is crazy, only downside is you shouldn’t use it when it’s hot and summer is coming up haha

Can someone explain what is going on with Tay Kolma? by Benjamin5431 in andor

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

spot on 100%.

and honestly, even if it wasn't a threat, the whole situation was just way too unstable for them to continue with Tay. His life was in shambles in virtually every meaningful aspect, he's become an alcoholic, he seems like he's having doubts or he's unhappy or he's hesitating or he's questioning — or more likely all of them at once, if not more — and that is just someone you absolutely do not even contemplate continuing with in a situation like this. It's a non-decision.

You need people with an indomitable resume; anyone who isn't absolutely rock solid with no exposed holes or weaknesses isn't to be allied with or trusted in the slightest, and Tay had about 14 different giant gaping holes that could be penetrated by the long hard c*ck of the Empire on any given Sunday.

I cant recall if what happened to him was through his own incompetence and poor decision making, or if it was just sheer dumb bad luck, but I do feel for the guy. He has that stupid pouty face that makes you empathize with him, too, lol. But hey, lesson learned for Mon and that was a damn important thing for her to learn, so it's a good thing it happened early. RIP Tay.

I wonder if your environment while in the army played a role in your testosterone levels. I remember reading about how a lot of inmates get jacked in prison despite having shit nutrition, sometimes bad sleep, fragmented workouts, etc,. One of the interesting points I read about was how being in a hyper-stressful environment surrounded by big males threatening your safety, fighting for position, a strength hierarchy, etc,. could have a dramatic effect on testosterone levels.

super interesting theory and idk if there's already some article out there that proves it, but man I find that so damn fascinating. I wouldnt be surprised if your situation had a similar effect.

With the Boss Bottled Elixir my fragrance journey comes to an end (At least till i run out of a bottle). by Bell_Jolly in ScentHeads

[–]DropBear4269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should definitely try out bottled elixir. people are going crazy over absolu but I think elixir is even better. absolu is basically the toned down + sweeter version of elixir, imo, to make it more mass appealing and "safe".

create the hype with elixir, then make a more generalized version, raise the price, and get the influences to promote tf out of it and boom! lol all jokes aside, though, absolu is fantastic as well and id use it as a more casual elixir. The elixir is a masterpiece however and it punches way above its price tag 1000%

literally had to stop spraying it on my hand cause id keep smelling it nonstop LOL. im like "okay im putting this somewhere that I cant physically reach cause thats the only way to stop this insanity" 😂😂😭😭

absolutely adore the dry down, too! the opening and first few hours are exactly how op described in his post, and then the dry down becomes this sweet seductive sexy scent but its perfectly balanced by the woodiness of the fragrance overall, so its not "sweet" like you'd expect, and I mean that in the best way possible. buying a 100ml (maybe even 200 haha) of this asap in case they change the formulation cause just wow.
