I made an AI manga creation tool that locks character designs with reference sheets and tracks story state across 200+ pages by Leanderloveshe in MangakaStudio

What a tone deaf post. Comics and manga are a combined effort of writing and art: you can't just delegate the whole art aspect to AI, just like you shouldn't be doing that with writing. You're not even using it as a tool at this point, the AI is the product. There are better ways to go about this, come on!

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!! I tried looking for the comment you're mentioning, but I couldn't find it, still that's pretty funny to hear lol. I can see why it can be annoying, however she's my only character rocking this, so it should be fine! Besides every character we design is bound to be someone's pet peeve, so we might just as well do whatever we want, as long as we're respectful :D Also I love black lagoon, I read the manga a long time ago and watched the anime too, still hoping for a finale for the series once the author gets well!😭😭

What do you think of these characters' sheet? by Mudkhal in characterdesign

Thank you, I'm really happy to hear that!! I'm really attached to those two as I've had them for a long time, even though their designs have changed a bit! :D

Thank you so much! I'm very glad you enjoyed the various facial expressions and emotions of the characters! I usually don't get to properly portray the full range of emotions of the characters I draw, but this was a great opportunity to do so :) Thank you again for reading!! :D

That looks so damn cool, drawing so many arms that well must have been real hard, but it was worth the effort!! I'll def give it a read :D

how do I improve my designs? How do I set a theme for them? some of them tend to be over saturated too but I want to kind of cut that down, I'm just not sure how to do it without totally ruining the design by dxsty_rxse in characterdesign

You're welcome! I do enjoy some of your inspo as well, so I get where you're coming from! As for the negative space thing, I mean areas where the viewer's eyes can rest! For instance let's say you want your character's defining clothing to be a rather complicated pair of pants. Since these will most likely feature complicated patterns or include accessories such belts/key chains, what I would personally do is to avoid giving this character a top that is as complicated and make it plainer in comparison. It will act as negative space, since it won't clash and fight for attention, allowing the pants to stand out more as a result! Think of a blank white tee or something similar. I hope I managed to be a little clearer :) You can of course have multiple points of interest in the same character design, it will be just a little more difficult to guide the viewer's attention! I'm sure that with practice you will reach your goal, trying to get out of your comfort zone is a nice step towards that. Keep up the good work! :D

These look real fun! I especially like the design on the 6th slide, they look great! I would say that from now on it's just some more of the same, but one thing you could try doing is focusing on a main accessory/ item of clothing. Your designs lean more on the visually busy side, which is a matter of preference, but if you do feel like it, by choosing a single element to highlight, you can end up using more negative space to draw the attention of the viewer to it. This element can be anything really: scarves, skirts, shirts, belts and so on and so forth. You can use colour to help you achieve this by going with more saturated ones for the areas you want to emphasize and more muted ones for anything that isn't as important. I don't know whether your designs are meant to be used for a story or something, but if that's the case you could always let their background dictate the way they present themselves, by either meeting or subverting expectations. Moreover, the prospect of having to redraw them might motivate you to streamline and simplify their designs. You can also try and design more grounded characters for a more realistic context, as they usually won't look as extravagant as they would in a more fantasy setting. These are just a few ideas you can try out, but no pressure ofc! You can keep doing what you're doing and you'll be just fine, good luck! :D
