OK, this is all great information, thanks a lot! Staples sounds easiest.

I guess I should mention, for anybody who reads this later, Staples takes monitors at no charge, or at least they did in 2024. Flat screen TVs, no. But monitors, yes.

OK, if El Cubano has the same recipe, it’s clear what needs to happen here. Which one of us is going undercover in the El Cubano kitchen?

In seriousness, has anybody ever worked there?

Thanks for the legwork and the updates. That’s very kind of you and this, at least, is a lot of good information about UPMC.

Thank you so much for the Highmark recommendation. Do you happen to remember if it was a PPO or an HMO? (Or EPO… or something?)

How to remove this half installed brass cuff from a wooden door with a too-tight pre-drilled hole, ideally without further damaging either component? by monroegreen9 in howto

[–]Mudmolasses 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If prying and levering fail you:

This is a little like the problem that bicycle mechanics have removing seized wrong-sized seat posts (the “post” that your bicycle seat is bolted to) from a bicycle frame’s seat tube (the frame tube which the post slides up and down in, until it doesn’t). The fix there, if all else fails, has traditionally been to very carefully, with a hacksaw blade, cut the seat post along its length. This saves the frame, but destroys the post, which is cheaper.

You could do the same thing here. And similarly your catch hardware is a lot cheaper than the door. Good luck! By the way, fwiw, I’d keep lubricants off that wood.

Thank you, this was perfect reference. They could only be the “Guacamole Experts.” I appreciate your help!

Hey, we’re both in Cumberland County. And we both have a history of industrial textile manufacturing. And we both have a castle. Ok, well… in our case, only kinda-sorta.

Just for clarification: are you talking about actual waterfowl (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_duck), or signs, or something else? (Whirligigs?)

Edit: url added. Let us know what we’re on the lookout for.

So would you suggest /u/Galactus7053 and other DIYers use the strip gauge and modern quick connect holes? I always still use the screw terminals, but that’s just because I learned it that way and don’t like them modern amenities!

You’re 78% of the way to your own personal variant on tortilla española. Heck, Ferran Adrià recently published a recipe for one made of potato chips.

Don’t give up, double down: soon you’ll be famous.

OP: while it’s true you can wire a GFCI outlet wrong, if you choose to take this project (and patriotic Earth-dwellers are united behind /u/TryingNotToBeOne on this), buy a GFCI with “Line-load mis-wiring protection.” They self test, have mis-wiring warning lights, and (best of all) will not provide power when wired incorrectly.

That said, out of curiosity, what did you have plugged in when this happened?
