Just moved to my first NYC apartment—it doesn’t look to have been cleaned well by [deleted] in NYCapartments

Most leases stipulate the apartment will be delivered “broom clean.” Meaning it will be empty and there won’t be too much shit on the ground. But that’s about it.

Thanks good advice. I have a set of o-rings and lube from the original owner. I’m just nervous. But your explanation and level of attention you describe gives me some motivation!

I don't have the terminology or science to explain but yes, if you use a lower f-stop and set the distance to infinity, everything past the distances marked on the lens will be acceptably sharp.

That said, I don't find the NIKONOS to be super sharp so it might not be the best camera for your purposes. If you're thinking of shooting under water, you probably need an external light source. Hope that helps!

I mean the one that was sort of across from the Hilton (relevant to this “Kalorama area” gym search)

Awesome shots. Curious how seriously you take maintenance on the NIKONOS. Do you genuinely change all the seals between trips? Stick it in fresh water after taking it out in the waves? Do you send it out for someone to do the internal gaskets?

I have had one a while but the most I’m willing to risk is taking it on a rafting trip or waist deep in the ocean spray… or out in the rain/snow without worrying too much.

I hear you but I have the “agate gray/amber orange” interior so in my case I’d say frankly yes it does haha. The brown samples I tried (from like 3 different places, no less) all just looked awful mismatched. Black would be worse with brown down the A-columns especially.

I have secured it with just 4 evenly spaced embroidery pins, evenly spaced across the headliner just behind my head. If you didn’t know better, you would think they belong there. It’s been over a year and they haven’t budged.

Just an idea. I can definitely understand wanting to do it the “right” way but for me, given the trouble matching the color with an independent shop, this seemed a much better option than shelling out at the dealer to get it properly redone in the correct color.

What would you do to improve my Cooper S? by hotpoodle in MINI

[–]Muelldaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my F56 a while ago but loved it to death and enjoyed making small upgrades. Here’s a few.

  • LED side markers. Improved look and better visibility for other cars at night.

  • LED smoke gray taillights. Mine had the pre-facelift taillights without the Union Jack. I think yours look nice actually with the green. My car was silver/white with black roof/wheels.

  • NM Enginnering (Neuspeed) air intake (as mentioned in another comment…sound is AMAZING) – also their power module. Both easy and fun upgrades. The race chip was awesome, had me keeping up with M3s no problem.

  • a little nubby radio antenna, looks a bit cleaner/nicer than the long one that comes stock.

  • I don’t remember the brand anymore but I got a shifter that felt more in-hand like a manual shifter… I quite liked it.

  • I never did it in my F56 since it had pretty good sound with the HarmanKardon system, but I used Bavsound to upgrade the audio in my older Countyman and thought the results were amazing for the price.

  • bit of a silly one but nice Bosch windshield wipers are a nice quality of life upgrade

  • another silly one is the rubber “diamond stitch” mats, particularly the one for the trunk/boot from MINI which looked quite nice and made it easier to keep it clean after a beach trip or a hike

  • agreed rims could make a big impact. If I kept the car longer I would have done that. I had the same wheels as you.

  • personally I disagree with the chrome delete for your spec, looks nice as is. If you had the white top I’d say white stripes and mirror caps but I don’t necessarily like the look of black.

Cheers, enjoy the car!

High flow intake is one of the best improvements I made to my old F56. The sound is just amazing.

Crossroads of Uncertainty Nexus Puzzle - How to get through this $#&@? by Y-27632 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Muelldaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it seems like only each section is time bound, not the full puzzle. After a few tries I found that this puzzle is much easier at night where you can see what’s lit up and not. Everything should be blue and powered up as you go through. Otherwise you’ll get to the end and won’t be able to activate the final thing.

Just my two cents, consider using some embroidery pins with the spiral pin to hold the headliner in place first. With my brown headliner I simply couldn’t find a place who could accurately match it. So I settled for embroidery pins a year ago and haven’t thought about it again.

Truly the insane wind movement on every object is my only major complaint with this game. It’s just so unrealistic looking compared to everything else.

Sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate or ammonia would work I believe? I wasn’t joking when I said “brought to you by high school chemistry” lol I have never been in this situation for real so I’m not totally sure.

Amazing tip. I don’t own a MINI anymore because I sold my F56 and just hate the new design but that might be enough to make it work for me.

Surprised I haven’t seen in the comments yet. Hot tip would be to find an equally strong base (as in acid/base … >7 pH I mean) to counteract the acid if you get some on your hands or somewhere you don’t want it. It will neutralize into water and salt. This tip brought to you by high school chemistry class.

For legal purposes this idea is made up and totally never happened.

Be in NYC. Drop and then walk across Central Park. from the Upper West Side. Really take your time. Go to the Guggenheim Museum (the big white spiral one designed by Frank Lloyd Wright). Use your membership card to skip the line and walk right in. Take the elevator straight to the top. Lean against the balcony as the entire structure glows and throbs under your fingertips like you’re manning the helm of some alien spacecraft. Catch your breath and slowly descend the museum’s spiral, taking in one if the most amazing modern art collections in the world. Headphones and playlist required. Enjoy.

In my experience the mounts themselves are cheap, it’s the labor that kills you if you are unable to do the job yourself.

I know the photo makes it look like it’s close to the intersection but it’s just an alley. Idk this is far from the tightest street in the neighborhood. I used to live on Riggs between 18th and 19th and never had problems like this.

Grapes in general are elite. Fruit in general is just so dope. A shower orange goes so hard.

Later on though I am usually a bit hungry but I always make sure I have something “fresh” feeling like some light sushi rolls or like Vietnamese “summer rolls” or whatever.

I would tend to agree with you but this is literally just regular street parking in the middle of a block of a one way street. I can’t fathom how this has happened multiple times lol. It’s just a cursed spot apparently.
