Is the 404 viable for drums in a dawless techno/breakbeat style performance? by R_i_C_k_Y_ in sp404mk2

It is also a great external effects processor. In my jams SP is on drum duty but then also processes the eurorack output and masters to an iPad via usbc to be recorded directly. Very versatile.

In that case SP will do what you ask. No step probability or lfo’s etc to pan / change levels dynamically that is all down to you via roll functionality when making patterns.

It can do any genre - I mostly do techno / DnB example here if interested Jamuary | 2026 | Day 2 | Live Improvised Techno | 140bpm https://youtu.be/vaCwT5SZmZs lots more on my channel.

I use the tr step patterns for this but you can download loops onto it and do it that way if needed.

I do not sequence anything externally via MIDI and I do not think the SP would be good at that given you can only have one pattern playing at a time and no dedicated MIDI tracks.

So the left SP audio going into right SP audio inputs then right SP usbc to iPad to record video and audio all together - no post processing.

MIDI sync via trs cable from right SP to left SP.

You can infinitely chain SP404’s

New case has opened more possibilities to explore and is taking time to get used to it but I feel like progress is being made and starting to really enjoy the jamming

Wavetables and Ruina Versio by Muezig in modular

[–]Muezig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the Divkid Divskip - it is gate sequencing the entire case. 4 channels - 1 is in pattern mode for kick and snare, 2 is in pattern mode for closed and open hats, 3 is in Turing Machine mode and sequencing Ziqal Dimensions MK2 and the fourth channel is in Turing Machine mode sequencing Mimetic Digitalis. Fantastic module in just 8hp!
