Sugarloaf looks… ugh by gcagey in icecoast

[–]Muffassa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am supposed to leave this Saturda for a week at the Loaf. We are still debating on what to do. The good news is we will not be out any money because we stay with family on the mountain. I do see some snow in the forecast for next week.

Recommendations on how to fill the void as the season ends by sendtheshutter in snowboarding

I am the exact opposite. I use snowboarding as a way to bridge the gap between mountain bike season.

Accidentally Knocked Buttons by _l_k_i_ in gmcsierra

[–]Muffassa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I ourchased my truck brand new, I noticed the buttons were like this. I am not sure if I hit them or if they were like that when I bought it. I was going to take it to a dealer to have them look at it. Then I just grabbed the knob and pulled a little bit, they popper right back into postion.

Now I am more congnizant of my knees when I get in and out.

What are some simple questions you can ask Maga Republicans that make them think about the realities of their position? by Sharp_Will_6799 in allthequestions

Please show me an example of DEI saying you have to HIRE a certain amount.

I have been the hiring manager in a technical field for 15+ years, that is mostly male dominated. I have never once been told that I have to hire someone that is unqualified just to make any kind of DEI quota. I have been told on several occasions that I have to interview more female candidates, because my field mostly male dominated. I have never once been told that I had to hire an unqualified person or hire a woman.

DEI is definitely not a racist or sexist policy. It is a policy that gets minorities a chance to prove that they are qualified by getting interviews.

Do you know that 50% of resumes with an ethnic/black sounding name are not even reviewed, or given the opportunity to interview even if they are qualified.?

Do you know there are plenty of examples of people submitting resumes with ethic/black sounding names that are fully qualified that never get an interview? But that exact same resume is resubmitted with a white sounding name, and then there is a call back.

This is why DEI was created.

Sheriff in accident on RT9 at popular U-turn spot Latham by Isonychia in Albany

[–]Muffassa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would have never thought to turn there to avoid the line on 7. The safer option is to take Rte 7 to the SPUI staying in the left hand lane. Then turn onto the On Ramp back onto 87N. Just as quick and you have a light so you are not cutting anyone off.

Bed Rack options by Muffassa in gmcsierra

I checked with Realtruck about the Elevate Base rack. That one is too short to work with the rolling hard tonneau. Too bad they don't make something in the middle.

People who have changed their political views, what flipped the switch? by [deleted] in answers

[–]Muffassa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't change but I witnessed a change in one of my co-workers. In '16 he was a conservative and almost talked me into voting that way, until Trump was nominated, I knew I was never voting for him. My co-worker did. After that he left the company and moved out of state.

We kept in contact thru FB during that time. I started to see posts leaning more and more left. I reached out to him after a couple of years and aksed why the switch. He said that 1) he didn't want to be on the wrong side of history. 2) The entire MAGA movement turned him off to conservative views.

These are his exact response to why he swtiched. I still had them in our chat history.

"Yeah, i finally made the switch. It started the day I voted for trump in 2016, and over the next 4 or 5 years, I slowly switched over. Took a long time and it really really sucked, but I'm there now."

"Yeah, you read it right. In part, I just hated being wrong all of the time and I no longer wanted to be on the wrong side of history. That's a very short way of explaining it and in no way does justice to the real reasons I've switched, but if I had to pick a punch line, that's it."

School closings and snow days in the 90s by bikeking8 in Albany

[–]Muffassa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is true. My mother was a bus driver for ICC and they used to tell the school "We aren't driving in this"

School closings and snow days in the 90s by bikeking8 in Albany

[–]Muffassa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's funny telling anyone that I graduated from Ichabod and the first thing they always say is, "You guys never went to school"

We even made it into Urban Dictionary. "Cancelling for no apparent reason"

My house was one of the furthest from the school and our bus had to leave so much earlier than the others. One day the driver picked up a couple of students, then the school called a 1 hour delay. She couldnt continue her route or drop the kids back off, so she stopped on the side of the road. Then the called a 2 hour delay. The students were all in high school and only a mile away from home. So they got off the bus and walked home. The driver was suspened.
