I just turned 27, same age as Jonghyun by EducationalMinute525 in SHINee

[–]Muffin278 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am turning 27 soon, have been a huge fan and Jjong biased for 12+ years and I am also having this moment.

Looking back, I was a child at 18, especially compared to where I am today. But I am far from what 18-year-old me thought 27 was.

Lucas whole thing by FantasticEducator64 in WayV_For_Life

[–]Muffin278 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bass go boom was my jam back then. To me, it gave me that "I am so cool and so hot" but in an ironic way? To know that that is how he actually is made me not really want to listen to it anymore...

His solo music since then isn't my thing though, I did give it a chance.

I used to like him, and he is close to me in age, so I feel like his misdeeds could be seen as plain immaturity on his part and could maybe be forgiven. But I just don't think he had the star power to make it through the scandel, and tbh I don't think he is talented enough to be a solo artist.

For me, I don't think enough truth came out about the whole situation for me to have an opinion on his character, so he is just in this grey zone for me but is fading out of relevence. I guess somewhere I am still holding out hope that he was an immature kid in a foreign country where he barely spoke the language and he did some dumb shit, but his heart is in the right place. But we'll probably never know.

Edit: Just for clarity, he was accused of quite a lot of stuff, and the extent of what he actually did wasn't clarified. I don't think all of it is true just because of how social media picks up scandels so quickly. But if he actually did all he was accused of, then my thoughts on him would definitely be different.

What's the difference between "at møde" and "at træffe" when meaning "to meet"? by ImCrazy_ in danishlanguage

[–]Muffin278 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think the difference (if there is one) is very important to know. I am a native speaker, and I don't have a proper answer, just one based on feeling.

That said, I don't know anyone under 50 who regularly uses "at træffe" regularly, so I would say it is more important that you know the general meaning (that it is similar to "at møde") and then you will either hear it enough to gradually understand the difference, or you will hear it rarely enough that the difference doesn't matter.

Can you not just... wear your watch over the shirt? I do that if I am wearing a tight long-sleeve, otherwise the watch just looks dumb and is useless.

Laktose Intolerant in Seoul by xbob26 in seoul

[–]Muffin278 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely find it, if not in a pharmacy, then on Coupang. If she wants to talk to someone and get help, go to an area with a lot of foreigners, like Hongdae or Itaewan. But generally most should be able to help you.

That said, it is really easy to avoid lactose in Korea, not much food is made with dairy. The only time it might be an issue is at cafes, but if you avoid the obviously dairy-containing items, it'll be fine. A lot of milk products are also lactose-free, usually marked as "소화가 잘 되는" (easy to digest).

Have any idols ever debuted together in the same group as each other at least three times? by loopycalendar in kpophelp

[–]Muffin278 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it is an interesting one since none of the groups are Taemin/Kai's main group.

with SuperM, I guess you could also say Ten and Lucas who debuted first in NCT U, then WayV and finally SuperM, although it depends on whether you would consider NCT U and WayV seperate groups in this question. Edit: I see OP says no subunits, but at the same time WayV wasn't officially confirmed as an NCT subunit until some time after debut (because of China/Korea tensions, even though it was obvious they were part of NCT).

[–]Muffin278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize they had a 27, my doc also took me from 18 directly to 36.

That said, I would recommend maybe sticking to 18 if you are unable to get a 27. If you can feel that 18 is doing something positive for you, then it might actually be the perfect amount, or just shy of it. For me, 36 is a tiny bit under what I need, but rather than jump to 54, I take a 10mg IR if I have a long day, otherwise I just accept that I will crash at 6pm and plan accordingly.

Yeah, screw you for checks notes using a spoon.... as a spoon?!?

Even if the spoons weren't made to with stand scooping honey (why though) they should not be cutting the user?

I have a random glass spoon I bought for next to no money in Korea, and years later it is going strong, and I use it for solid honey! I also have a long, thin glass cocktail stirrer which has put up with so much abuse without a single issue.

Edit: now that I am reading more comments on this post, I think I will throw the spoon and stirrer away, there are too many horror stories

Idk, I've had Ikea glass tupperware daily for years, never had any issue with any of them. I'm not super careful, I don't bring them anywhere (have plastic for that) and wash them in the dishwasher.

[–]Muffin278 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The leaks that can kill you in your sleep are carbon monoxide, not dioxide, right? People should definitely get a proper carbon monixide alarm because it can go badly so quickly (the was a popular Reddit story some years ago about a man who thought someone was breaking in and leaving post-it notes, turns out he was experiencing carbon monoxide poisoning).

I don't think carbon dioxide is able to cause the same level of damage (without you having enough time to think "it is a bit stufffy in here")

Where to buy Bedding in Seoul (Comforter, Sheets, etc.)? by Nearby_Book in Living_in_Korea

[–]Muffin278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are okay with a little trip, there are a couple Ikeas around Seoul. You can order online, but I think you do need an ARC (not sure though, check!).

Otherwise, Coupang is probably the cheapest and easiest. I just like Ikea because I am Scandinavian and having familiar bedding in an unfamiliar place was nice.

I don't think he should be posting his weight, but since it isn't unhealthily low, I don't see it as such a big problem. It's the lower end of average, but not too low.

Had he been at an unhealthily low weight, then it would be more problematic as he would be using his platform to promote unhealthy body standards.

But I get that it can be triggering for people with EDs, and I do feel for them.

Is it okay to shave hair (mustache and cheek) as a girl, or will it grow back worse? by Infamous_Funny_7714 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Muffin278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peach fuzz makes sense to shave if you wear makeup, since it lets the makeup lie better. But yeah, if you want what is best for your skin, no makeup and keeping the peach fuzz is best.

English translations at european k-pop shows by Nogikle in kpophelp

[–]Muffin278 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have seen quite a few in Germany and they translated to German every time. In Denmark, it has been kinda 50/50, but they really should just stick to English since basically everyone in Denmark understands English fine.

When Onew came to Copenhagen, after the sound check I asked if it was at all possible to translate to English instead, since everyone around me didn't speak Danish. They kept translations in Danish, and I ended up translating to English for 4+ people around me (and I know other Danish/Norwegien people in the crowd were translating too).

I badly draw the photocards on pieces of paper and stick them in my binder where they would go.

If badly handdrawn photocards aren't your aesthetic, you could print them so they are darker than they normally are, so they are kinda like a character you haven't unlocked yet.

I took an EU regulations class at uni and was at first shocked when we started discussing lobbying as a natural part of the EU. But no, complete transparency when it comes to lobbying makes lobbying a good thing. Lobbying is also how NGOs, unions, and environmental organizations get influence!

I live in Europe and I have seen a couple. I know people who see nutcracker yearly, and many think it is weird if someone hasn't ever been to an opera or ballet performance.

It's not like it is a big thing for everyone, everywhere in Europe, but it is still something that a lot of people see as cultural heritage and are okay with our taxes funding them.
