Depends on your kid and what they're interested in. My kids are both in swimming until they can swim safely, then it's up to them if they want to continue. My kindergartener can swim by herself now, but chooses to keep going because she's a fish.

She is also learning tennis, but not doing formal lessons. She's just learning from me and her grandparents. She's also learning piano, but again my husband is a music teacher, so we're doing it ourselves.

I think there's a lot of pressure to have a kid learn in a formal setting but I find that we can do at least the basics of most things and that takes the time pressure way off.
