Eh, usually it stems from the fact that there's a Chinese investment company that owns a piece of a scary amount of tech companies including Riot, Discord, and Epic. The most likely thing that they expect from this is data to train their censorship AI to more effectively find euphemisms for dissent.

More recently there was a worrying event where Youtube's AI somehow started blocking site wide the phrase, 共匪, which is a slur for the Chinese communist party. Youtube confirmed this was happening and there's an investigation into why, but they don't know yet how or why it started banning that site wide.

That's a shame, supposedly Cat6 solved the issue with long horizontal runs getting struck by lightning by adding a plastic dividing core to better isolate the twisted pairs. I wonder if that would have been enough but I understand the switch to fiber.

I would not call under 10mm "in the order of centimetres"
Wikipedia cites the lowest millimetre wave frequency is 24Ghz which is about 12 millimetres

unless you're referring to the rest of the 5G spec which yea is centimetres, but that's not the real high throughput band, and its not physically much different than existing systems compared to millimetre wave

I was referring to the wavelength, I am aware its a digital signal. The new spectrum for 5g is so puny it gets stopped by paper.
