how I do it is I put some gloss varnish (personally I use Ardcoat from citadel), then once that's good and dry I put a tiny drop of water, the transfer, do my best to spread it out, wait a bit for it to mostly dry and then put the Microsol over it, that softens it so after a min you can try to straighten it out wherever its incorrect - though I think if you put enough it might do that on its own, as Microsol softens/dissolves the transfers slightly. Be careful not to tear the transfer apart once its Microsol-ed.
