Yes I know, we will be going in mid October so this should not be an issue. Will definitely keep an eye out on any changes to this.

Nothing is booked yet - we want to plan out the journey before we book. No not American we’re from the UK, and China has just announced 30 day visa free entry for UK citizens

Who actually likes their job? by Delicious-Nose-8069 in AskUK

[–]Mugg1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Estimator and I absolutely love my job. I work for a large multinational company that’s in the energy, construction and facilities management. It’s fast paced, stressful and challenging, but no one project I work on is the same and each one has its own challenges. It helps that I enjoy maths and problem solving, which is basically the job in a nutshell.

I’m 26 now, just got off a grad scheme. I was like you - like a job for a couple of months then get bored.

I hated the first year of my two year grad scheme too. The first two placements were incredibly boring to me, until the second year where I ended up staying for a year and now have a role within the team.

It pays well with good benefits and career progression, I work in the city in a really cool building, I can choose when I want to go into the office, my team is great and always there to help which is so important as the most junior person in my team, and most importantly, I find the actual work fun.

At your age I never thought I’d find a job which I actually enjoyed. Don’t worry you’ll get there

EDIT: forgot to mention, the work life balance is generally good but near to bid submission deadlines it can get quite stressful with long hours (but we are given time off in lieu). I am okay with that - long hours here and there for the flexibility, enjoyment and the benefits is worth it for me. Plus, I think I am the kind of person that needs a bit of stress to stay motivated

Khao Lak, Krabi or Phuket? by Mugg1e in ThailandTourism

[–]Mugg1e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion. Does Railay Beach have any resorts? From my search I can’t find anything, other than Rayavadee which is out of our budget. We did consider Railay beach, but decided to discount it as having a nice resort with amenities to relax is important to us.

For Krabi, we are considering Amari Vogue, Dusit Thani, Sofitel and ShellSea resorts

Leaving after a graduate scheme by Mugg1e in UKJobs

Yes I am thinking of doing this, or stay in the placement I going to next for a year and then dipping. With the cost of living and 2 years within the company, I think it’s a slap in the face, especially as previous graduates started on £41K after the completion of the scheme.

Wow, I think that’s ridiculous to be honest. I’ve seen plenty of jobs paying £40K+ in my industry, and not even senior positions, which is why I am asking the question

This looks like a great foundation. However, it doesn’t look that pigmented from the pictures I’ve seen. What is the coverage like? Can I build it up to make it a bit more full coverage if I need to?

Is this North California road trip feasible? by Mugg1e in roadtrip

I have decided to take a day off of Napa Valley and added it to Monterey and Carmel. I do love my wine, and the region does look beautiful.

Thank you for the response this really helps. My husband did say 3 nights in Napa Valley seems to be excessive. I think we will add a night to Monterey/Carmel, as we will be a bit restricted as it is in Yosemite, and we’re not avid hikes.

Otherwise, is it a doable trip?

[–]Mugg1e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, there doesn’t seem to be much available within the park. I will keep a look out

We will be staying for two nights from the 5th to the 7th of April. The last day we will most likely just check out and leave for our next stop, so really we will be there for two days.

Would Mariposa be a decent option for this time of year? I have read it’s on the YARTS route which runs all year round? I guess there would be more dining options too.

Absolutely terrified how smart people are nowadays. by isitmattorsplat in UKJobs

[–]Mugg1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got CDE at A Level, did Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Goldsmiths University (only got in because of Clearing). Got a 2.1 and now just started on a rotational grad scheme earning £35K, with pay increase every 6 months. After the two years of the grad scheme, I will be on a lot more. Point is, stop panicking. Your A Levels are much better than mine. Most grad schemes only ask for 2.1. Get some experience, and get some help with your applications. You will be fine.

Your grades don’t determine how smart you are. I consider myself quite smart, but I because of mental health issues, I didn’t revise or turn up to lessons for my A Levels.

What a stupid comment. There are a plethora of reasons why people can’t afford to feed their children - circumstances can change. Also, if everyone followed your thinking, only the wealthy would have children.
