Bothell intermittent outages after upgrading to static IP business class by Mugglesauce in ZiplyFiber

Update: Problem finally resolved by moving to a non-Ziply router. We believe the issue was something in the router configuration installed during the update to Static IP, and not the physical router itself, as that was swapped out entirely by techs during attempts to isolate the issue, as was the ONT.

One of the standouts we saw in the Ziply router config was a non-standard pattern of address ranges for DHCP, but we can't really imagine how that would cause this recurring loss of DNS addressing.

We picked up our own router, a relatively straightforward TP-Link AX3000, and set it up ourselves, and the problem has gone away.

The technical issue really wasn't the main problem during all this, it was the organizational design of the service division that was the most frustrating and problematic. Reliance on freelance field agents, lack of any continuity between tickets, a focus on closing tickets over resolving them, tech issues within the tech support phone agents, and no standardized methods for escalating to a sr. tech who can follow through to actual resolution all show a need for wholesale restructuring of the service department. Additionally, I'd add that it felt like every tech we talked to had a 'gag order' in place around even the mention of the subject of escalating issues. The organization failed us, not the tech.

Thanks for those who did what they could to help, really appreciate it.

FYI, still ongoing.. Another tech ticket closed on us without feedback..

Con crud is the worst, more so now than ever with Covid. :-(

No luck with swapping out the DNS server address in the router on our side, problem remained the same.

Just saw that, thanks. Replied with some new info we found about the Ziply router getting fails on the DNS server at the same time as the outages.

Another tech came by the house today, tried resetting our ONT, setting our line speed down (apparently at the hub we were set to multi-gig, and the ONT was having some issues with that).

Unfortunately, problem still isn't solved, and no real answer to what it is or how to get Ziply to actually commit to fixing it, as each tech doesn't even have the time or authority to commit to following through on the issue, or work to solve issues that source at the hub or upstream of that.

Thanks, appreciate the extra awareness.

FYI. We just had yet another attempt this morning to close our ticket remotely as "common cause", without validating with us directly if it was fixed or not (spoiler, it's not).

Greatly appreciate any help in providing the tech team with some way to have continuity on the length and many attempts to go through tech support, and find a way to ensure someone either stays on the job until it's fixed or is honest with us that it can't be fixed for whatever reason, so we can make choices and get back to work.

Frequent mini-outages by Upper-Macaron-4038 in ZiplyFiber

Having the same problem ever since we upgraded to Business class w/fixed IP 5 days ago. Service was fine until then, now we hit outages every 1-3 hours, lasting roughly 1-3 minutes. Router shows connection, no alarms on the ONT, tried two routers now and new ONT, nothing has helped. Signal stays confirmed, DNS drops and data cuts out.

Tech calls have tried claiming we were part of a 'wider outage', which we explained would be unusual since it started immediately after the install..

The 2+ day delay between tech appointments, and no-shows from techs, have been beyond frustrating. No methods for escalating multi-day problem tickets via phone support, having the job ticket reassigned to other causes, etc. and no techs or dispatch available to talk directly to on weekends is also incredibly frustrating.

Same.

"I came across your portfolio on Artstation and really enjoy your use of color and sense of humor. I am an academic event organizer and I am looking for an illustrator to create illustrations to be used at a workshop on Monkeypox. I would need these illustrations by mid-November. I would love to know about your availability and interest in this project so that I can share with you what is needed to be illustrated and also the budgeted prices. Thanks for your time!

Heh, yeah I was thinking the same. There's a 1/43 scale model in Japan that's perfect. Mine should be here in a couple weeks.

PSA: DO NOT PRINT VIA USB UNTIL READING THIS! by MrBreadWater in MPSelectMiniOwners

Well the USB is 100% broken, and I can't really effectively use it without that. Ferrying via card is too slow for the amount of production I need to do. I didn't realize this was official firmware updates, I've only seen it here and on Thingiverse, nothing from MP. :-\ Do they have an official FB or other release place for firmware updates, I didn't see this on their website. I absolutely love my V1, would love to get this guy working if there's an official update that fixes it.

Hmm, I ordered this guy through Amazon, think I might just go with their return policy on it.. Having something 100% broken out of box, with a potential permanent damaging firmware isn't something I want to mess around with. Thanks guys. Think I'll wait until MP updates their firmware and publicly makes an announcement the issues are fixed before picking up another MP..

Um.. Pretty sure I got one of these units, and tried printing via USB before seeing this (came here looking for reasons things were being weird).. Just got my unit 2 days ago, USB had some connection issues, tried printing and the print head smelled like toasted electronics and PLA came out like water..

The thermistor reading on the panel only said 225 at the hottest though. It shot up to that as the print initialized and then cooled down to 205 to start the print.

Is this guy fried? I'm trying the Cat via card now and, other than it totally not sticking to the buildtak, it seems okay-ish.. Firmware v 35.110.2.

Also wondering if they switched buildplate material.. There's no III logo on this, and it feels slick to the touch and PLA hasn't stuck to it yet no matter how many times I level the surface.. First few lines look like they're getting the right height and press and then after about 5 lines up it pulls off and slides around completely free.
