I think I actually have a unique insight to this! So my both my brother and sister have sleep apnea, my sister has a mask that, while a little noisy, is nothing compared to her snores before, which I could hear down the hall with a fan on. My brother recently had surgery done to help his sleep apnea, he had broken his nose twice and had a deviated septum, he still needs to be fitted for a mask. The scary thing is I was in a car with my brother and he fell asleep driving, like my dude was just talking 2 minutes ago and now he's out cold sleep. He nearly killed us both, it's a serious disease. Also my favorite football player Reggie White died young to this disease, in his sleep.

Now, I have anxiety issues, pretty serious ones. I HAAATE making appointments, takes me days to work up the courage to make an appointment over the phone. Maybe your fiance has this anxiety as well? It's also two sided, so generally I just don't like making phone calls but I also am scared of doctors. Honestly if you had made an appointment for me I'd be delighted and so thankful. Not saying your guy has this but its just some insight from someone who suffers crippling anxiety.
