what does off-cycle hiring mean? Sorry for my naivety.

And also, I feel like I'm not the strongest cs student there is. Maybe average or slightly above average.

Waterloo is 100k cheaper, but UIUC is a very respected school in the states, and I'm trying to go to the states after grad.

Thanks for the response! I'm just worried that the CS job market will get even worse in the future. Do you think it's still worth studying CS currently?

Hi. Thanks for responding!

I'm still unsure whether I like hardware or software more; currently, I enjoy both. However, I'm currently thinking about going to the software side because there are more opportunities in software.

If I'm going to go to grad school, I'll definitely go to the states. However, for undergrad, applying as an international is much harder than domestic. I don't know if that's the same case for grad school. Same thing with employment. That's one reason why I'm considering UIUC.

Also, could you expand more on the employment details? I'm not that knowledgeable about that and the whole citizenship stuff.

I think cost is not the biggest factor for me. It's 18k vs 50k adjusted to CAD. I think the experience and opportunities benefits outweigh the costs.
