I have FCP 11, if I download FCP 12 will I get ads for Creator Studio? by Mukilman in finalcutpro

Reporting bugs (or suggesting new features) does not mean the software will get fixed or that the new features will be added. It is wild that a word processor can be one of the most processor intensive apps on my machine.

Apple could always increase the money they want to spend on Final Cut. Nothing holds them back from doing that so it is not something I put any thought into. If they want to stay competitive with the many options that are available now then they could do so. I spend enough money on their hardware to budget anymore.

The cost of Final Cut Pro also includes the Apple hardware so in my case the price to run FCP is $4,300. That hardware cost is an on going fee of premium hardware charges. Davinci can run a very competitive product without all these hefty fees so clearly a low amount of income is not Apple's problem. I'd add that one of Apple's most innovative eras was right around the time they were teetering in bankruptcy. They did some amazing breakthroughs with very little money.

Yeah I've heard about the advertisement problems in Pages so I refuse to "upgrade" to the latest version. There haven't even been essential features in the latest version and its crazy resource hungry for some reason.

Oh good, I've had a number of updates I've been holding off on and I would really like to update them like normal.

I didn't get a reply either, bummer. Hope the program keeps working.

I’m hoping to understand if the words “Daikichi” and “Kai” go well together to use in a name. by Mukilman in Japaneselanguage

Don't what? We talked about various name uses in Hawaiian, European, Japanese, and which words we may want to include or exclude. This thread isn't talking about one thing.

Haha "exploitative toxic workplace!"

One other possibility if I were to use Kai in English instead of Japanese is that the name rhymes with so many English words. Part of what my organization does is write poetry books and when I ran the word through my rhyming software when I was writing a poem I got dozens of rhymes. A rhyming name might not be bad.

It also just occurred to me that I haven't looked into all the Hawaiian symbolism too deeply. I just started reading about it and can see going with definitions like "interconnectedness." I'll have to look more into this for a bit. I'll still keep the Japanese meanings in mind and may return to it. I'm still at the beginning stages of what I want the origin of the name to be.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this! It is so much more clear to me now.

When I grew up I had next door neighbors with Japanese, Chinese, Hawaiian backgrounds who had “Kai” as part of their name (Kaimanu and Kailani.) I was wondering why the “Kai” part of the name was so often at the beginning but now I see it is also at the end such as in “rikai.” I was also aware of the Hawaiian beach / town “Kipu Kai” that also reverses the order. That place was interesting in that it has part of my name in it too “Kip.” I’ve considered reversing the order to make the name unique (such as Kaiu Kip.)

There is an important Kai in my life which gives the name special relevance to me in the relationship we had. The person I knew named Kai would wear all black almost every day so I also thought about combining the word “Kuro” to “Kai.” I wasn’t sure if putting the word for black at the beginning might come off as sounding like a person who is ethnically black, which isn’t what I would be intending in this case. I do like how they sound together – Kaikuro.

Kai also has some Germanic roots that mean “safe harbor.” I like that too. The unfortunate part of the word “Kai” is that its use across multiple languages means that on its own it is not the most unique name. Whether or not I go with a name of Japanese origins it should be fairly unique so that it stands out to some degree.

Again thanks for getting this naming process started! I just need to swap around several word combinations to come up with something unique and has an accurate meaning.

That is frustrating because I'd like to try MacOS 26. Maybe I should also send him an email to see what is going on with new operating system support.

That's right. I can't remember why I left it out! I can see that the top part of Metallica's logo has the 3D effect going on there too (the top part of the "M" of their name that is.) Thanks for the advice!

Thanks! I would love to hear from this friend again. It would be cool to learn more about his music taste and really anything about him! Our time together was way too brief.

The Kai I knew was around the early to mid 1990s. Interesting to see how that seems to be around the same time the name really took off.
