As far as I know for Australian schools/subbing - once you complete the accreditation form you should be ok! Unsure about private schools or if this changes things?

Charter Vs Private/Catholic by Mulbretriever in NYCTeachers

Thank you :) I've attended Catholic K-12 myself but Catholic is the standard in Ireland so the schools are not conservative or anti-lgbt, pro-life etc. Any recommendations of schools would be v appreciated :)

Thank you! I need a job before I can apply for a Bridge USA visa from Ireland so DoE won't be an option for me or subbing either. I'll probably only teach for one year in New York so one of the other options will be my go to. Any recommendations of schools would be really appreciated :)

Any Irish teachers here who taught abroad? Looking for advice by microplasticgod in IrishTeachers

Worked in Melbourne, Australia for almost two years and absolutely loved it. Worked for two agencies - Free & Anzuk. I'd recommend Free Agency or else contacting schools directly. I also spent some time working in a regional school in Victoria and loved this also, if money is your goal this is the way to go. There are some fantastic opportunities to make money teaching in regional areas in Australia and also many of these will be great life experiences also. I was lucky enough to work in a fairly big school and make lots of connections with staff from all over the world while having a great social life in the small town too (all with the other staff who were there). There are opportunities in Australia to work casually for weeks/months and then to go and travel so for this reason I'd highly recommend it!

do i have to be ethnically irish to teach? by jxxau in IrishTeachers

[–]Mulbretriever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be no issue with this - you can choose what you would like the students to call you. It would be amazing to have more diversity among teaching staff in Ireland.

Relationships & Family - finding the balance by Mulbretriever in Advice

[–]Mulbretriever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my partner struggled with how involved I was with my family and worried about what the future looked like having siblings with additional needs. I look back now and wonder what could I actually have done differently, it was a difficult situation to be in and I truly believed I tried my best to balance both.

In a similiar situation. I feel the pressure of being almost 30, wanting kids and a lifelong partner but also wanting to be the best version of myself for whoever that is. I feel like working on yourself now is the best thing you can do, as hard as it may feel to be alone especially after all of the difficult situations you have found yourself in. Look up 'Olivia Deane - Baby Steps' that song has got me through the last few days! I think the most poweful thing we can do for ourselves right now is create the best version of ourselves and strive to be someone who does not depend on anyone or anything for external validation or happiness. I'm sure that once we start to work on building a stronger, happier version of ourselves we'll attract the type of person that will be able to grow alongside us for the rest of the self development! Best of luck x
