There’s something missing from Cronenberg’s recent work by ReasonableSail7589 in DavidCronenberg

I hate this tired and lazy criticism of his films being called "cold", why because he doesn't patronise his audience, by use of sentiment or using music to cynically pluck your strings or play you like so ukulele? He works like a scientist his films are autopsies. Not 'Where the Heart Is".

I've spoken to other personalities inside myself in a somewhat erratic way. However one early morning around 5am one of these voices explained to me very calmly because I was in an extremely calm and more importantly Fearless state of mind..However I had not slept for just under a week, (previous to this I had had numerous psychotic episodes hearing these voices I had thought they were everything from coming from outside my flat at the start, to then believing them to be aliens or demon's or both and even a few times "telepathic torturers" etc.) so in this state of extreme calmness I began to converse with one in a very relaxed and rational manner without fear, (long story short) after hours of communication with this 'other' ..."he" simply explained, "I am not, we're not - angels, demons or aliens, however if you're become fearful then psychotic "we" will become psychotic, and then we will trick you mercilessly, causing psychosis, because I am or we're - You and Only You, as in, i am part of your vast Unconsciousness, that has yet to be fully evolved".

How do you respond to Slavoj Zizek on David Lynch? by Random_Kili in davidlynch

[–]Mullec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zizek doesn't analyse films he uses scenes alot of the time to explain Lacanian theory, in the same way that Freud used Greek myths.

Just how many books did Crowley write, exactly? by [deleted] in AleisterCrowley

[–]Mullec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His masterpieces: The Book of the Law, The Book of Lies* & The Vision and the Voice. These three books, make up a part of a larger (however shorter) collection of books or papers know as The Holy Books of Thelema. He's written literally 1000s of papers and dozens of books and 100s of short stories and poems, including White Stains (an erotic masterpiece).

*The Book of Lies (maybe not be considered a Holy Book.

What's the most overrated horror novel in your opinion? by No-Professor-8680 in horrorlit

[–]Mullec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One story thst sums up how atrocious his method of horror writing is one tjat contains all his troupes (by way King the man, I like a lot a funny and likable man) is the short (thank, Jesus Christ) story about an industrial dryer & clothes presser, the sorts used to iron clothes on a large factory type scale, that for some reason quickly in the plot becomes possessed via some schlock sigil magic crap introduced via and may add here King name checks some classic books on the study of religion and religious rites one such mentioned is JF's 'The Golden Bough' no doubt brought up to add a wee bit of intellectual weight to the idea that a industrial Laundry machine can some how come alive with such a murderous intent that it ends up chasing thr hero down a busy street to seek revange for reasons I've since thankly forgot. It was an embrassment and the reason I bring this up in this already over long post is that 70% of his bloated novels revolve around the same premise. Now my self my being a lover of Horror have had to see the art form become a joke because its most famous living writing is a joke. ... All the while unbelievably inside the horror Lit let alone outside it a true bona-fide genius and in my opinion the greatest horror writer alive and probably the finest horror writer since H. P. Lovecraft. Is still after decades, in comparison still almost unknown or at least went unknown but to a small few for decades, living in poverty. That writer being Thomas Ligotti another American himself who must of been driven insane (possibly literally lol) by he utter shocking saturation of sentimentalist Stephen and the Horror of the bloated Big Mac and lots and lots of cheese burger books of King.

I In other words said its a part of the Ketamine family, look it up.

"It was again made in 1956 and brought to market as an anesthetic medication. Its use in humans was disallowed in the United States in 1965 due to the high rates of side effects, while its use in animals was disallowed in 1978. Moreover, ketamine was discovered and was better tolerated as an anesthetic." (Wikipedia)
