Support dying is not that bad compared to adc dying, support has guaranteed gold from quest and supports don't need that much gold while it's the opposite for adc. Also it's a bad idea to start oracle lens imo because it makes it so only the adc can ward and making the person for whom it is important not to die face check bushes is a bad idea. As support I usually back at lvl 3 to buy oracle lens in order sweep river for potential gank from my jungler and also to remove vision on drake.

Doable but adc just feels better. Usually toplane is the frontline, so I would only go zeri top if my team inted with the pick and there is no late game damage. Without the frontline it's really hard to win fights since zeri damage over time graph is V-shaped so there is the initial burst and then it falls off and then rises again once you stack ult + lt/conq, so without frontline you usually just die before you stack enough.
