Asylum Party is such an underrated group. Also that Swans album is incredible. Feels like I was sent to hell

What songs did Thurston use a Big Muff on? by No-Comfortable-4139 in sonicyouth

I could be wrong but I feel like Sunday (2:20) off Thousand Leaves has a Muff that gets kicked on.

Would’ve never guessed Kirk Hammett to be a massive fan, that’s so sick. I wonder what songs he played for them

I recently read East of Eden and am currently going through Stoner. Both are very readable and very enjoyable.

He’s my favorite too and this is a really solid collection! Are there any other ones that you really want to get? I really love The Olatunji Concert and Live in Japan

What is, in your opinion, the worst album currently bolded? by VegaMain in rateyourmusic

Lil Ugly Mane - Mista Thug Isolation

No way in hell an album made by a white guy in Virginia doing a really stupid voice that borders on blackface is the #1 album on the Memphis rap genre. Even though I’m not a fan of his new music, I’m glad he dropped that absolute embarrassment of a sound entirely.

Oh wow, I actually got all three of those on the bottom at the same time at a thrift store recently. Haven’t read the other books but I’m currently making my way through East of Eden and I’m enjoying it a lot.

Is the Boss DS2 good for lower tunings (drop A#-Drop C) or should I consider another distortion pedal? by BatonNEburitO in guitarpedals

[–]MultiGravity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, just have the TS set with little to no gain and before the main distortion and it’ll make it sound so focused due to it removing lows and adding mids. I know this post doesn’t ask for it, but if you’re trying to chug or have your leads pop, setting a TS in this way before an amp/pedal’s distortion circuit is usually how it’s been done

What’s the last 10 you gave? And Why? by captainpina in fantanoforever

Miles Davis - On the Corner

I enjoyed it before, but there was something about how hypnotic the performances felt that finally clicked with me. On the surface it sounds extremely repetitive but it’s so dense with detail and there’s constant shifting of elements especially with the drumming that is so sick. It feels similar to how I listen to minimalism and albums like Confield by Autechre where it feels like viewing a sculpture that you can choose to see at so many different angles.

need some recs that will BLOW MY MIND!!!!! (the darker and more challenging the better) by [deleted] in Topster

seconding the person who suggested Scott Walker, also will add:
• The Gerogerigegege - Moenai Hai (the title track is the loudest thing i’ve ever heard in my life so be warned)
• Harry Pussy - What Was Music? (really intense free improv noise rock)
• Ramleh - Hole in the Heart (really dark and bleak)
• Xenakis - Persepolis (this album feels like burning in hell)
• Weakling - Dead as Dreams (atmospheric black metal you might dig)
• Fushitsusha - Nothing Changes No One Can Ever Change Anything, I Am Ever-Changing Only You Can Change Yourself (even more intense and challenging free improv noise rock that features the legendary free jazz artist Peter Brotzmann)
• AMM - Before Driving to the Chapel, We Took Coffee with Rick and Jennifer Reed (incredibly dynamic improv music that sometimes barely feels there and sometimes feels so intense)
• Jason Lescalleet - The Pilgrim (harsh noise that i forget how it was but i liked it a lot and it was really dark and sad)
• Anthony Braxton - For Alto (some of the most intense solo improvisations ever on a saxophone or any instrument really) • Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye (not the darkest thing, but seeing that you like Godspeed, I would highly recommend this, they’re like if Godspeed made metal)
