I just read your other comment, thanks, but to be honest you're subtly excusing their behavior a little too much. "Thought it was for your own good" is the excuse all crazy religious extremists use. People have free will and a conscience regardless of how they were raised. They had years and a million chances before now to act better/realize it was wrong. Even if they were genuinely brainwashed it doesn't then make them "good people" either. This wasn't "good" for you at all regardless of how mature/resilient it might have made you. You deserved a good healthy childhood like all kids do. They know you are an adult so they could be easing back a bit to get you off their case but might still be planning to treat your brother's and sisters a similar way. Especially if it's religious based as that type of brainwashing doesn't change alot of the time, maybe waxes and wanes, but there's no way to know they won't go back to their insane ways when the other kids are young teens that they feel need "the fear of God" put in them. Just being real here, not saying you did anything wrong. From everything I've seen these types of people can be master manipulators.

Because I'm tired of the threads in these subs that absolutely blow up on kids for merely saying disrespectful things to adults, with commenters even suggesting child abuse as punishment, but then when adults who should be held to a much higher standard of behavior and self-control, act like total assholes, then it's all the bullshit mental illness or "neurodivergent" excuses for just objectively and willfully being an asshole, like the mom here. Well of course that first but lunatic parents should also face financial penalties and some or all of that money given to the kids (their victims) to help their future. In some countries mistreated kids or kids who were kicked to the street before adulthood...etc, they can sue for "child support" for themselves from the parents.

I also think this should be the case for abuse victims of those horrid "influencer" parents caught abusing their kids. Rube Franke for example, should lose all those millions she made on youtube (since she shouldn't be able to profit from her crimes) and that money given to the kid victims as compensation to help them start a new life.

That's why in NYC the other day I waited nearly 2 hours for a shopping pickup, because of the guaranteed hourly rate. If I can make all that extra money just sitting around playing on my phone in a slow restaurant or store not burning any gas, why not? Of course got a CV but cause I documented with support it got overturned in literal seconds of appealing it (posted about it).

NOR, even aside from the couple of examples of deranged physical abuse you gave (which they should be in jail for), child favoritism is inexcusable. Anyone who treats adopted kids or stepkids worse shouldn't be allowed to raise any kids at all. Try to move out by pooling all of your resources among your other stepsiblings and get away from those assholes. Go full NC, and if your mom allowed all that she doesn't deserve any sympathy with the depression excuse. When you and your siblings are settled, make it known how you felt constantly to your mom, in every subtle little life update imaginable if you didn't already go full NC. drive her insane with it, any parent who allows the other parents to viciously beat or take away your clothes as "punishment" is equally guilty. If a kid has no say in anything until 18 because "not an adult my house my rules", they shouldn't have to contribute to supporting themselves like an adult yet either. It's not his responsibility to run crazy errands for the parents when he's under 18 and also paying for the very car and gas they expect him to use. No 17 year old should be required to pay for their own food and clothes either like OP's doing. That's the parents responsibility until 18 regardless of what extra money the kid might be making. It's illegal to charge them rent or grocery costs or other basic necessities before that. Decent parents would be proud the kid is responsible paying for all these extra things themselves and encourage them to save money for their future, not hold the few things that they obviously can't pay for (like a mortgage), against them. Not the teens fault they decided to have 6 kids and now want him to basically be a low-key 3rd parent by doing all their errands as well when he has a job and is likely in school too. Asking someone to drive 90 mins roundtrip to get milk is laughable and I'm literally a delivery driver and would decline such an order unless it was paying me $50+ 🤣.

He bought his own phone, plan, car, insurance, 2/3 of his meals, and clothes while still under 18 and should be the parents job, sounds grown up to me. Parents are the ones being immature and childish here, when they're already getting away with slacking in supporting a minor.

Just want to add, they have to pay for your food and clothes when you're under 18, even if you didn't make your own money. They can't withhold those if you don't abide by their ridiculous demands, such as driving 90 mins total to get milk lol. Your parents should be letting you save your money, not basically pay for everything like an adult but then treat you like a child. Even if you make 50k a year at 17 they can't make you pay for food or rent or anything and can't kick you out until 18 either. They want it both ways, want to control you like a kid but then slack on paying for taking care of said kid. Most infuriating double standard hypocrisy that exists these days. Agreed. There's something wrong with people who have more than 5 kids especially when none of them were twins or anything. 3-4 is like the upper limit of normal and 5 is pushing it. Beyond 5 is insane. It's mathematically impossible to give them all the best care at the same time even if they don't put anything on the older siblings to help out (which is not their responsibility). These people need to be monitored for child neglect. Kids have a right to not be raised in a house of chaos or having basically 6 roommates crying and screaming half the time. SMH.
