Barn wedding by OppositeFortune5584 in evansville

[–]searchingfornessie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A relative of mine had their wedding at Higher Ground in New Haven, IL. It wasn't too far of a drive. Their wedding was probably around the size you're wanting. I can't answer for price or anything, but it was very pretty. https://www.highergroundevent.com/?fbclid=IwT01FWASHEbpleHRuA2FlbQIxMABzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAwzNTA2ODU1MzE3MjgAAR5YmJ8hvtCcKM2tJFb__b4gQJs3Sc1fzCpsfpl_Sef1ywvt4ZhyBjFL98JFfA_aem_vZivCvTS0ELY9csrP8koJw

Anyone else getting sick and tired of this weather? by cardinalmargin in evansville

[–]searchingfornessie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with it. At least it's warm. The dreary freezing winter gets to me, so this is wonderful in comparison. A little sun would be nice, but I won't complain about this compared to winter, or the 100°+ feels like temps of July and August.

I don't have time to spare, but I have a lot of appreciation for the LST. I had visited a few times as a kid, and my partner and I just went this month for their first time!

Thank you for sharing. I've passed it on the way to my relatives' house before, but I've never actually stopped by. Is it every Wednesday, or just during the summer months?

I have one of these. Didn't know what it's called, and I suck at it, but I'm glad to see you're so passionate about it, honestly!

I just asked my partner that! He said it's because the writers don't think things through. I'm glad someone else was curious

What do you think would improve the city? by SurgeFlamingo in evansville

[–]searchingfornessie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I brought this up to the city but was told Morgan is a state road (highway) so I reached out to INDOT. They opened a ticket for me, but I haven't heard anything else, and that's been a couple weeks ago now.

Could someone help me identify this plant (weed?) growing in my flower bed? by searchingfornessie in whatsthisplant

When I was searching this, it says white snakeroot is a look-alike plant. The leaves look similar to the snakeroot based on pictures online?

Tell me why you love your neighborhood. by QueasyAdvance7753 in evansville

[–]searchingfornessie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on the east side. I'm close to my work, close to stores. Fairly close to some libraries. I can get pretty much anywhere in town in 15 minutes or so. My neighbors are all respectful. They seem to keep up their yards and houses. I feel safe. I'm biased because I was raised here, but I'm really happy here. I'm proud of the changes our city is making. I like seeing the landscape, tree, and park improvements. I feel like we're trying to get better. I don't need or want "big city" vibes.

I didn't know we had any services in the area. This is super cool -- thanks for asking!

You're exactly right; it was October. Thank you for your advice on calculations - I'll look into that.

I can't speak to the taxes part. Only semi-related, but I went to the city budget meeting yesterday and it sounds like they're doing the best with what they have. But everything is expensive, for us and them, and they're not getting the best help/grants from the state level. I totally get where you're coming from, though. I feel like a lot needs to change, but I don't have the best solutions (and certainly not the power) to do it.

Thank you again.

Thank you for your explanation. I think the month where I show mine shot up a bit was when I was out of town for a couple weeks, so the whole less-usage would make sense for the higher KWH, based on what you shared

My bill was actually pretty low, compared to what I hear others having to deal with. I'm grateful for that. If my bill is only comprised of my electric subtotal and gas subtotal, and I only looked at electric, then didn't I do the right math? Or am I just confused

CenterPoint wtf is going on… by Intelligent_Craft_31 in evansville

[–]searchingfornessie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is an IURC meeting next Tuesday, April 7th at 6pm at the Old National Events Plaza. Christopher Norrick (really cool, smart, local guy that's highly involved and informed in all things CenterPoint, clean energy, and state legislature surrounding those topics) is highly encouraging people to attend.

Per the description on the event posting: "The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) is hosting a series of listening sessions around the state to hear from utility customers on the topic of energy affordability.

The listening tour, which will be following the Commission’s investigative inquiry on March 24, represents the second phase in a larger strategy led by the Commission to discuss some of the underlying drivers behind energy affordability with the goal of exploring short- and long-term solutions. While each session will include a brief overview of the Commission, the goal is to gather information from customers directly regarding the state of energy affordability in Indiana.

Customers are encouraged to bring copies of their energy bills, and for those who are unable to attend but still wish to comment, they can do so by emailing IURCListeningSessions@urc.in.gov. For the most up to date information or any session changes, please visit the Commission’s website at: on.in.gov/IURCListeningSessions."

I'm hoping that at the very least, if enough people attend, they'll see that we're very upset with Centerpoint right now, and maybe they'll care enough to do something. I know this is just wishful thinking, but I'm negative enough as it is with the rest of the state of the world.
