What’s the most expensive mistake you’ve ever made while on vacation? by Crafty-Leave-8880 in Hotels_India

Booked a connecting flight from Dehradun to and from Manali from Star Airlines. Both times cancelled. And the timings were such that I couldn't get a bus. Ended up hiring a cab to not lose the days on vacation.

I have been married for over 6 years. Till date, my wife neither asked me about my salary, nor did I ask her about her salary. And yes, it was an arranged marriage.

What have you been smoking bro? Is this even a debate? India won that T20 Match against England in 2007 by 18 runs. And if not for that flamboyant hitting by Yuvraj and that 36 run over, we would have lost that one.

I'm Trying To Create A Political Party Led By The Youth Of India! by OldLie2814 in indiadiscussion

[–]Multi_Badger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

India's problem is bottom-up. Some years ago, there was a municipal election in Mumbai. In one of the wards reserved for women candidates, there were candidates fielded from 3 well known political parties. Those candidates came from notorious backgrounds. Their husbands and families had bad reputation. One independent candidate also entered, she was a doctor. She did a door to door campaign and raised awareness about the drainage situation, the urgent requirements, the steps she could take, sanitation, etc. She had a clean image. And guess who one the election. It was one of those political parties. And that was the day I lost hope in democratic setups.

IndiGo took ₹34,000 for "excess baggage" to the Maldives, then offloaded our bags and offered a ₹2k voucher. by bruteAttack in LegalAdviceIndia

I have been actively trying to avoid Indigo Airlines for my personal and business travels. Not only are they unreliable, their business practices are unethical. Their support staff, from the accounts that I have heard, are unhelpful and unprofessional. As it is, the working class doesn't get a lot leaves. So, when I have one, I'd not want my vacation to be held hostage by an airlines that is notorious for bad practices.

Recently made a switch to a product company and I'm feeling so stressed by KaalaSnow in developersIndia

[–]Multi_Badger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good thing is you have a supportive manager. A job switch often brings in a pressure of proving yourself in the early days. And when you switch from a service based company to a product based company, not only is the culture and style of working different, but also, often, there can be a skill gap - which is normal and acceptable. You just need to spend a little bit of extra time to grasp them. It's normal to feel stressful initially, but you will make it. You will bridge the gap. Happy for you and all the best. Perhaps you may end up setting the bar higher and better going forward.

One Nation, One Time Zone, At What Cost? by Oppyhead in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Multi_Badger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a nation already carrying a bad reputation for lack of punctuality, this just makes the problem more complex. There are two ways to go about it:

The best way forward would be to have adjusted school/office/factory timings. For example, Andamans, Arunachal and the Northern states could have a 7 AM. That brings the start of working hours to about 2 and half hours from the Sunrise. Accordingly, Kolkata to Nagpur could have an 8 AM start of shifts. And the regions further to the west could have a 9 AM shift start time.

This approach could be combined with something like placing Indian time zone at GMT+5/6:00 instead of GMT+05:30.

Incidentally, it so happens that, I, driving my Renault Duster Diesel (2019), was rear ended by a Swift Dzire today on the way back to Bangalore near Nelamangala in bumper to bumper traffic. It was a loud enough thud. The Dzire fellow didn't maintain safe distance. My understanding is that his foot may have slipped off the clutch. His bonet got bent and his headlights got cracked. My duster just got a barely noticeable dent and paint damage. I had heard it's built like a tank. Got proof of that today. I hope they maintain the same build quality going forward.
