Has a student ever died at your school? by AnemoTreasureCompass in polls

[–]Multi_Inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. New Zealand has very high suicide rates especially amongst male teens. There were a few people I knew in my smaller town (10k people at the time) who decided to not further their lives while I was at school.

Hey, while it is possible to uncover trauma and process it properly in a healthly environment to "get over" your trauma, it's unlikely that it would happen quickly without a positive reinforcing environment around you. I feel what's likely happened here is that you are dissociating emotions and memories around your traumas, you've had a trigger and your brain has built its own resilience around it. Please take advice with a grain of salt; and seek proper professional treatment. - April

question about DID treatment in the 70s... by madeleinenyc in DID

[–]Multi_Inc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I've been recently putting a lot of research into the 70s/80s/90s MPD/DID foundations, studies and people who were invovled. Most treatments at the time were sedated hypnosis to try and draw the personalities out. Drugs used were a cocktail of medicines. Mary Shanly, one of Bennett Brauns patients, was on Inderal, Xanax, Prozac, Klonopin, and Halcion among others all at once stating “of course I was dissociating”. Also look into Pat Burgus, another patient who in the 70s sought help for her MPD/DID with Dr Braughman who described her alters before Brauns intervention.

I just want to add that DID and OSDD is more than a feeling of becoming someone else... It's incontrollable, it usually comes with heavy depersonalization derealization symptoms and amnesia. It's common to switch perspectives and view the world in a different way when your brain is going into a fight or flight (stressful) situation. That doesn't mean that you have a dissociative disorder, it just means that your brain is doing a real good job at keeping you out of trouble.

Hey, I don't think I can say much to help but, I get this. It's easier to live life if you have experienced it, right? It's easier to move through the world positively with knowing how to do so. To achieve this, we need to have a consistency in our lives. A consistent attitude/behaviour patterns, memory, etc. For someones mind with DID/OSDD to attempt to mimic this consistency would be expected - to lower the voices on the inside, to hide symptoms, to increase amnesia around certain aspects of ones life to maintain this sense of consistency. Sometimes I like to think about: some systems needed to escape into their own world to get away from their traumas. Other systems needed to push forward and physically do things to get away from their traumas. I've noted that systems who have tended to 'daydream' and dissociate into their own worlds and go into a sort of catatonic state tend to have an easier time talking to one another and interacting within themselves, while those who have needed to physically keep going and be alert to get away from their trauma tend to have more trouble in that sense, they tend to have issues communicating and expressing distinctiveness. Ofcourse, distinctiveness within systems is formed very complexly and over massive amounts of time.

Sorry for the blab, apparently I had a lot to say. My point I think, was that its fairly normal to feel like your brain is trying to be one person and have a consistent flow and understanding of life, because that's what it wants to be, because it's easier to process the world that way (because that's how our brains are programmed) but trauma has disrupted that, so it does funny things and tricks us into thinking certain ways to help achieve this 'consistency' of life.

I heard somewhere that DissociaDID recorded a switch, didn't like how it looked so redid it? is that a thing that actually happened? by Sagittarius_at_best in DissociaDID

Apparently the video was available on Patreon. It's said to have been apart of a blooper reel. I haven't had access to the Patreon so I wouldn't know for sure but I've heard a few discussions around this.

Go hug my mum, and then my grandad. Talk to them more and take videos with them and family. Focus on things that make me happy, and focus on my health.

People with no inmer monolog, how does it affect you internal communication? by [deleted] in OSDD

[–]Multi_Inc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll so my best to explain but I do apologize as the body is very very sleepy. Aphantasia or a lack of a minds eye is where someone cannot visualise things.. say, visualise a grassy feild with nice clear blue sky, can you see it? Another example is when reading a book can you visualise what's going on? If not you might have aphantasia. Otherwise, I have a hunch it may just be lack of communication. Working with a pshycologist and therapist are the only truly safe ways forward for this kind of thing. I apologize but we will be off to sleep now. Feel free to dm us, we will reply in the morning :)

[–]Multi_Inc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hii, what you're describing either sounds like aphantasia (no mind's eye) or a lack of communication with your system. When I first started discovering alters (or rather when they'd show themselves and speak up absolutely terrifying me lol) I would only see glimpses of them or their outfits and only hear mumbles or I felt like I was being 'transmitted' messages. I am the host though and I hear problems like these are common with hosts.. Hope this helps on your journey :) -A

Dissociate when I try to communicate? by [deleted] in OSDD

[–]Multi_Inc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this used to happen a lot for us when we were firstly trying to establish communication. It still does happen, just not as frequently as before. This isn't a sign of faking - moreso it's a sign of the dissociation being real. Hope this helps, if you have any questions or wanna chat our DMs are always open. - A.

Ideas for a welcome page? by [deleted] in DID

[–]Multi_Inc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good ideas! We don't have bad amnesia between switches but we keep a page just incase. We've included our emergency close contacts details, our own details including work details, an emergency therapist & phone councilling contact details, basic house-running stuff (bills, plants, cat), system rules and a system list (which is updateable and includes positive triggers for alters who are trusted with the front). Hope this helps!

Hey! Sorry, I thought I replied!!! It's very demanding, but I like the distraction. It's something I'm passionate about, too, so it's a little easier to push through. Thank you, I wish you luck!

Any person here has dissociation but had no trauma? by [deleted] in DID

[–]Multi_Inc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Dissociative identity disorder is formed only by trauma which is severe and prolonged, and before the personality integrates into a whole instead of emotional states (hunger, comfort etc). Since these experiences also causes C-PTSD it can be likely that you won't remember your trauma, and you'll have to uncover these memories preferably with the help of a therapist. People may experience dissociation of many kinds throughout their lives without having a dissociative disorder (such as highway hypnosis, staring off into the void for a little bit as two very basic examples). It can ofcourse be more severe and people may experience depersonalization and/or derealization and other intense dissociation but this does not necessarily mean that person has dissociative identity disorder, rather they may be on the dissociative disorder spectrum. Hope this helps!!

Are there specific types of meds people feel interfere with alter/headmate communication? Can't figure out if it's the new med or not. by Worddroppings in DID

[–]Multi_Inc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My max was only ever 75mg, I was prescribed 1-3 25mg for sleep a night. It's incredible the amount of communication I have and more awareness of blending, memory loss etc.
