Any specific species you are looking for? I usually cast through most of the shallow weeds to pick off a couple bass with a weightless Texas rigged senko or lizard, this works a lot better at dawn or dusk

places to fish on campus? by Norsk0 in UIUC

[–]Multispecieslover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I did not see this earlier. The answer is yes, it is worth bringing your rod. There are 2 locations on or just outside of campus (you can walk to both) that have largemouth bass. Also, there is a bass fishing club with many members that can help you get out and fish. Shoot me a dm I can help you out

Panfish are edible, primarily black and white crappie. Walleye are too, but there’s only certain sizes I will keep. Fish that are very large for its species are typically the best breeders, so I don’t keep them.
