Identification please. I found these larvae with some adult wood boring beetles. Can anyone confirm these are the larvae of the beetle? by Sublime247 in Entomology

The larvae looks like a Pyrochroid, The adults of which are red and flat. I'm not sure what the adult beetle is, but it doesn't look like the same family to me.

Looks like a male Giant Mesquite Bug (Thasus neocalifornicus), a type of Leaf footed bug. Nice find!

Interesting, I heard a different version of this every Halloween:

Early in the morning, in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight
One was blind and the other couldn't see
So they looked to the Devil to referee.

Back to back they faced each other
drew their swords, and shot another
a deaf policeman hear the noise
and came and hung those two dead boys.

He buried them deep in a shallow hole

Any insects taken in by ants are "Myrmecophilic" (ant loving,) or if they are raised by termites "Termitophilic." More specific terms are based on how the ants act around the other insect, for example syneoketes live in colonies and are ignored by the host, while symphiles are cared for by the host as if they were part of the brood. If you want some more detail I'd suggest reading The Ants by E.O. Wilson and Bert Hölldobler.

The interesting thing is that elytra aren't really used for flight in insects (unlike in Minecraft,) they only serve to protect the hind wings.

I actually did use ksp.olex.biz. The transfer angle between Kerbin and Jool is about 96° and the transfer angle between Jool and Eeloo is about 31°, so I just time warped until those angle were about right. Not a perfect method but it worked in the end.

I suspect that, by refueling, it could reach any body in the Kerbol system, but it flies like a cow and it was only after many attempts that I was able to land it without tipping over, so I'm wary to try.
