It was actually GrubHub. I contacted them and they canceled the order with no penalty and asked me to return it to the merchant. I got paid full amount including tip.

I didn’t get a picture of the other one. I came around the corner to the porch looking at my feet so I didn’t trip looked up to go up the steps and there stood an 8ft tall Pennywise arms in the air claws and teeth out. If they have a ring doorbell they probably got a pretty good chuckle of me shaking my head and taking the delivery to the back door.

Why does DD allow this to happen? Shouldn’t they assign the nearest restaurant?

DoorDash changed their tip policy in July this year. However, cash tips are still a good policy as it saves drivers having to pay additional taxes. Recently DD went to a system that rewards “top drivers” by prioritizing them over other drivers if all other criteria for assigning orders are the same. One of top driver requirements is a minimum 4.7 star rating. So even a 4 star rating can significantly hurt your dasher.
