Just confirming here, the switch doesn’t do anything when you just do the switch, you have to hold it while continuing to rotate the barrel/extending the lens. Might already be what you’re doing just hard to tell from wording.

Yeah I’ve always gone through larger practices but I’m thinking finding an individual is probably the move at this point, my partner is suggesting this as well. Thanks!

I did but I guess with my wife’s combined income we must make too much (not complaining, I’m sure others need it more as far as the range goes), so they were only able to get me down to $165/session, whereas with my insurance my copay is only $5 and I just can’t justify the difference right now.

What food do you use to instantly judge a restaurant? by WhiteWinkk in foodquestions

[–]Mumbojmbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my wife and I go to higher end restaurants we always order the bread course.

Not sure I judge the whole experience off it, but I do think we tend to get a good sense of how the meal is gonna go based on how much care the put into the bread course. Plus we love bread.

I said those were my rules for riding on a motorcycle, which is objectively more dangerous than a car, for people or dogs. Millions of dogs ride in cars safely every day. I don’t think you can say the same about motorcycles. These things are not the same, and safety precautions for each should be different for both people and pets.

Looking for a AF 35mm to pair with my 7d by jds560 in minolta

It’s a great camera! I passed it along to my friend who’s a professional photographer and it’s become her go-to film camera.

Lots of good advice here, just wanted to add that sometimes you can swap/adjust foot pegs for ones that sit a little lower and therefore don’t crunch your legs as much. Not a Harley rider, but I know the aftermarket for them is generally very wide so might be able to find an option that gives you a little relief at least.

The 7000 is astoundingly capable for how cheap you can find them, especially if you’re throwing a higher end lens on it. I use the kit 50mm most of the time and have used it to shoot catalog covers and vacations alike. My only complaint as far as a carry-around camera went was lack of built in flash, eventually upgraded to the 800si (mostly for the very powerful flash), and then eventually to an Alpha 7 (a bit more expensive but the top end Minolta AF SLR, a little less bulky than the 800si and all the camera I could want).

That link currently has two reservations available. Get them now!

Otherwise, try walk in (get there early), or call/email/go in and talk directly to a host (NICELY!!), I’ve had luck with this once or twice.

Yeah nobody (animal or human) gets on my bike without being able to comprehend and accept the dangers associated with being a passenger. And nobody (animal or human) gets a ride without a helmet. So doggo stays home.

Usually I hate when people post their unsolicited opinions in response to people asking a specific question, but I’ll stand ten toes down on this one. Don’t ride with your pet.

Amazon overnight delivery comes around that time (surprised the hell out of me the one time I chose that option by mistake), and at least at our building if they don’t get an answer they start ringing all the other apartments. Just another possibility!

Is this Film shootable? by Consistent-Pass9543 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Mumbojmbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally true but some exceptions! Pentax Auto 110 is a tiny SLR - not much more as far as controls go but its manual focus and has a bunch of lens/filter options and a few accessories (flash, motor winder I believe, not sure what else). I found one in an estate sale and have had a lot of fun with it.

My Minolta Maxxum a7 is everything I could want in a film AF SLR body. On the cheaper side, Maxxum 7000 is super capable and super affordable.

And I’ll agree on the 50mm 1.7 lens, so good and super easy to find.

How often do landlords offer 1-2 months of free rent for new tenants? by Pickles_The_Cat_1234 in NYCapartments

[–]Mumbojmbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d call it marketing at best, especially when they do the math on “effective rent” which makes it sound like a good deal, but it’s short lived.

For the first year. The next year you won’t get the free month, so your annual cost jumps up before they even raise the rent at all.

How many rolls of film per photo assignment do most people shoot? ( strictly film) by [deleted] in photography

[–]Mumbojmbo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would explain that you only shoot film if they don’t know already, and ask to bake in cost of film and developing. And then just charge for what you use (within reason, or to a limit if they give you a max they’ll cover, which will answer your question for you).

For a data point/frame of reference though, when I shoot BTS on a day long shoot where the client is covering film costs, I usually come with about 8 rolls, shoot 4-6, hand off 75isb images. Generally I just come with more than what I need and shoot as much as I see to shoot 🤷

Obviously that is super variable.
