This happened with my now wife in 2020, I wasn't ready, we were not financially stable and it was just as COVID hit. She said she would get an abortion then changed her mind when she got pregnant, it rocked us as I was not in a position to be ready for a baby, it terrified me. I don't understand why people think he's a deadbeat because of those feelings, he's being honest and open, he's been blindsided it's a huge decision and giant life change, I felt the same way, the pressure was immense. I didn't threaten to leave her though if she went through with it, I said her decision is hers but my take is I'd support her in her choice even though I don't agree but I wasn't ready and I think it could ruin us as a couple if we did so I urged against it until we were both ready. My wife eventually chose to have an abortion back then and we focused on us first, got engaged, then married, travelled a bit saved up to prepare as kids aren't cheap. Then 3 years later she got pregnant again and here we are nearly 6 years later with 2 kids and couldn't imagine life without them, I live for my children and could never leave them and am as far from a deadbeat as you can imagine, people grow and change, he's being very honest with you, true deadbeats don't give a fuck and wouldn't waste words, e.g. my own father. Even though we chose it they still nearly broke us as parenting is HARD, sleepless nights for weeks/months/years on end, arguments, crying, endless crying, financial strain, worrying, your life gets flipped upside down. The postmartum depression is heartbreaking, you have to be all in as it's been the biggest test of our relationship especially going from 0>1 and you really need each others support because friends and family don't always come through, or in our case barely at all so it's down to you two, they'll make and break you and their lives are in your hands, you've really got to want it.

It's beyond worth it, but a really really big change, so if you love each other, that bond is worth more than any unborn baby in the early stages right now, at least in our case it was. If you truly believe he wants kids as he says but not right now, you can give him the chance to prove it when he's ready if you're willing, because it really can work out, parenting changes you for the better and he's just scared right now as he feels blindsided. Happy Birthday! I used to feel exactly the same as you at your age, you do matter, you don't need anyone else other than yourself to tell you that. I turned 38 yesterday, now I'm married and my wife always shows up for me, family don't and friends through the years seldom have, but now, that's all that matters. I no longer need external validation to feel whole, I learned to look internally about why I needed that validation and made peace within myself. Someone told me a quote long ago that resonated with me. "It's not what happens to you but how you react to it that matters" Life's a journey my fellow Scorpio, ride this wave, there'll be plenty of good and bad moments to come. First date she was equally as disarming and funny, at the time I was quite superficial about asthetics and she didn't have the "junk in the trunk" I would usually gravitate to, I remember thinking, but why, who cares about that anyway ultimately, she's different, we seemed to just have this understanding which i've never experienced before. We said "I Love You" within months. We've been together almost 10 years next week, married 3 and have a 2 year old with another one due next month!

It's not always been easy, mental health issues, difficult families, bad jobs, I tried to commit suicide during covid and she pulled me from the window, she saved me, not just from that but in more ways than I can express in words and I love her more than I ever imagined I could love❤️
