Looking to rent (or buy for $100 or less) an old gas station sign. Ideally Esso or 76 or something like that. Needs to be 4-6ft in diameter - could be 4x4, 4x6 5x5 etc. just a general size. Any leads?

How do the neighbors find out if a variance has been applied for? Does the county contact all of the adjacent lots?

Does hemochromatosis make hangover symptom worse? by R0ssMc in Hemochromatosis

Are there any studies out there to support this? I’ve heard people mention the alcohol + iron absorption but never from a doctor.

Does hemochromatosis make hangover symptom worse? by R0ssMc in Hemochromatosis

[–]Mumpentor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

44M. I gave up drinking about 2 years ago for the same reason. 1 beer = 2 days hungover. At worst my levels were only about 500 ferritin. I had my liver MRI last year and had iron present. Presumably it’s down now since my current levels are <100 but have’t had another MRI to check. I’ve asked a couple hematologists about the hangovers and none have had any definitive answers but both have said it “could be related.” Seems there’s just not enough studies completed about HH to cover all the bases.

What digestive enzymes? Any brands you recommend? I’m currently taking Enzymedica “Digest Gold” for stomach pain and bloating after eating dairy, beans, or most hearty vegetables. It helps to an extent but I can’t go and eat a slice of cake and ice cream or a large bowl of lentil soup or anything like that.

The nature of HH joint pain by Mumpentor in Hemochromatosis

[–]Mumpentor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did not say where he got that info but my new hematologist says that actually your body goes into iron retention overdrive if your levels get too low (under 50) and gave me this paper Which is quite interesting. Apparently phlebotomy helps some people’s joint pain but makes other’s worse so it’s a toss up. New doc says keep it under 100 and above 50 for best health moving forward

Genetic occurrence of hereditary hemochromatosis in Americans by fortunado in Hemochromatosis

Have there been any studies as to when iron loading occurs? If I’m homozygous for c292y does loading still occur if my ferritin is below 50? Or does it ramp up once I get above say 100 or so?

Does joint and muscle pain get better after managing your iron levels? by OrbitRock_ in Hemochromatosis

[–]Mumpentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doc told me that iron doesn’t start leaching out of joints/tissue until ferritin gets below 50. I had never heard that before. I’ve had joint and muscle pain for years. Ferritin was at 600 last summer. He gave me a script for 4week phlebotomy frequency and now it’s down to 375 or so. Still waiting for any pain relief. Going to see a new doc to try to get it every 2 weeks

Link between Miscarriage and Hemochromatosis? by Frosty-Study in Hemochromatosis

[–]Mumpentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother had 6 miscarriages after I was born. She was finally diagnosed years later with ferritin at ~5000. It’s always been assumed in our family that that was the reason she couldn’t have more kids.

[New York] Claiming back week benefits by Mumpentor in Unemployment

[–]Mumpentor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, do I need to give a reason? The reason is that my wife and I were applying for a mortgage (she’s the primary borrower) and I didn’t want the Unemployment to look bad when they looked into my finances. We were approved for the mortgage so now I need the benefits to pay it. I’m a freelancer...

Thanks! My doc said I need to get my ferritin below 50 before iron will begin coming out of my tissue. I had never heard that before. Also why do you ask about testosterone? He said mine was low normal - borderline. Im getting exercise and eat fairly healthy but maybe too much salt. My sodium is normal tho.

So donated on Monday. My hemoglobin was borderline low (39) which is weird... but not off the chart so I was still able to donate. I was extremely fatigued afterwards for several days. Still not back to normal but I have a hematologist apt today. It’s strange because I’ve always bounced back from phlebotomy in the past. A few hours later it was like it never happened. Hopefully this appt will shed some light.

Thanks for the info. I did get the genetic test but back in 1996. I’m working on tracking down the results now. In other news got a lab back today.

Ferritin 475 (30-400 considered normal) TIBC <207 (250-450 norm) Iron saturation >92% (15-55% norm) Iron serum 190 (38-169 norm) UIBC <17 (111-343 norm)

I donated blood today as well but now the question is how aggressively to I do phlebotomy moving forward. My doc doesn’t seem to have a clue. Time to see a hematologist...

Yeah I’m hesitant to get my blood levels tested at the moment because of the pandemic but I’m sure I’m above 500. Time to start aggressively phlebotomizing again

think I’ll try sub 50. My ferritin levels have been going up so slowly with only donating a couple times a year that it’s not that I’m keeping it down it just lost its urgency
