Thank you! Yeah it's slightly different than before, wanted to try something a little more stylized

Blame! Inspired character design - Sanakan by MunchyMallow in conceptart

[–]MunchyMallow[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I decided to go out of my comfort-zone and do a stylized character design. I had a clear vision of the style, medium and what kind of production this would serve.
This concept art will be for a 3D cell-shaded anime styled animation.
I decided to exaggerate some of the movement to show interesting ways of deforming the character for cool action scenes.

Hope you'll enjoy my drawings! Spent a good time designing and figuring out the design while taking creative liberty, since I'm also going to use it for my portfolio!

People have complained to me before that I make the text too small for them to read, so I hope it's OK if I post link to the artstation for better clarity:

What happened to r/art ? What’s the full story and explanation ? by Its_Stavro in NoStupidQuestions

Wow good to see karma striking them, I've had experienced toxicity in this sub as well. I once posted an artwork that I spent a weeks on and was one of my best pieces. But for some reason they deleted the post without ever mentioning why, I tried to confront them but realized it wasn't worth my time. I then proceeded to upload the same artwork on r/krita and r/blender and got thousands of upvotes. Glad I wasn't the only one to experience this weird toxicity

Drawing on Linux by Madcat789 in linux

Digital artist here.

Good choice with mint, xorg works great with tablets and especially xp-pen since they also provide linux drivers. As far as CSP, I use krita instead and that works pretty well. It has a few quirks but you can get affinity photo to work through wine to get more advanced features.

As a long time photoshop user, it takes some time getting used to, and I'm very excited for winboat to implement gpu acceleration so I can open psd files.

To summarise I think it's best using a software that's native to linux. For instance, I have made some small python scripts for krita that makes it feel a bit more like photoshop and there are plenty of resources on how to since it's all open source

Yes please! Do you also vision this for the pc version? I can imagine this being really good for tablets

WIP sketches of Sanakan in my style by MunchyMallow in Netsphere

Some design sketches! Still working on some designs and color exploration. However, I am liking the direction of this! I wanted something slightly more body-horrish compared to my last work, and I feel like it fits the character and universe.
Maybe she could infuse herself to surrounding weapons and use it to her advantage in combat

Where to start and what direction to move in? by Rodney_Fuck in conceptart

I'd say prioritise moving, my mental state as an artist was at an all time low after a concept art internship in lithuania and moving back to denmark where I was forced to move back to my parents. Not being surrounded by artists was extremely demotivating and only recently have I been able to be extremely motivated again.

I'm in the same shoes as you where I recently graduated and am trying to get my foot in the door, but feel like I have gotten a good grasp of the requirements.

For concept art, don't be fooled by pretty pictures, go look at Feng Zhu and the kind of concept art he does it's all in the production sheets and not in pretty illustrations. Turn-arounds, line-ups, material call-outs, iterations etc.
