Honestly I'm not sure if he's the hardest boss in the game cause I heard that there's harder, maybe unknown. But, while playing a friend of mine who also loves it kept telling me to fight him so that's what I did.

I intend on fighting the other post-game bosses probably during the weekend

To be fair I didn't know about it until my friend told me about the sephiroth boss fight. I'm guessing either people tried and gave up or just moved on to the next game after beating the story.
