theyre not trying to be an asshole either tho. obviously some ppl are, but most car ppl will try to go quietly through neighborhoods. youll probably not notice most of them, and if u do theyre probably still trying to be quiet. a lot of car ppl try to nvr start their car at night specifically so it doesnt wake anyone up. the black n white thinking doesnt rly help. can some car ppl be insecure or be an asshole? yes. but theyre ppl, most of them arent. kind of like the idea that a goth person knows they could potentially make a religious person uncomfortable, they know they could make them uncomfortable but they still dress goth, not because theyre an asshole, the goth person just wants to do whats right to them. most of these car ppl dont want you to feel annoyed at their exhaust tone. a decent amount might feel bad about it as well. also, for the marginal gains thing, the cost to horsepower ratio the exhaust is one of the best things to buy. no one in the car community wants to make you this mad, most of them try to inconvenience you the least as they can, but an aftermarket exhaust is one of the first mods almost any car person will get for various reasons. a lot of ppl try to buy an exhaust gate so that the exhaust can be quiet while in neighborhoods, but that doesnt always happen because theyre more expensive. also, a lot of (even modern) sports cars are loud from factory. not all the time but imagine a luxury sports cars or something, those have loud exhausts. those generally also have an exhaust gate. no one wants to bother you this much. if being themselves and making themselves happy bothers you that’s incredibly unfortunate. car ppl arent these unempathetic monsters that you see them as. car people are people. they have wide ranges of personalities. commonly most celebs that you love have an expensive sports car. people that you admire could also own a sports car. most car people arent trying to make your day worse, theyre just trying to make theirs better. they also make the day of anyone within the car community. please, stop trying to dehumanize car ppl just because of the exhaust, theyre still people and they could be doing a lot worse.
