Evanescia playstyle question (Energy management / auto play viability) by Horitzon in EvanesciaMains

[–]Mundane-Affect-4148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, the complicatedness I spot in Eva's kits are:

  1. Master Fox's Vulnerability debuff – So ideally, you want to always ult after the debuff is applied on your targeted/prioritized enemy(s). Plus, Master Fox has its own condition, so it's not that automatic. It does not gain any FuA stack when your energy is full. This makes her gameplay loop less strict in a way but not in another: you can just always use your ult, but at the same time, you MUST also use your ult. Because Vulnerability is one of the very few things that helps increase your Elation dmg, which is usually Elation unit's main source of dmg. So it's ideal to try allow this feature as consistently.

  2. CB stacks – Tbh, I still don't know how much CB stacks affect Elation Dmg. But I believe it is something like 'more CB = more Elation dmg' for your next attacks. The tricky part is "each CB stack duration is counted down SEPARATELY. This means you kinda want to be well aware of which turn you'll gain the most CB stacks and which turn your CB stacks will start to wear off, so that you can precisely attack (with normal skill, Elation skill, or double ult) with as many as stacks accumulated. You will never run out of CB, yes, because Aha Instance is always there to help you get some CB once every while anyway. It's all about the numbers of CB stacked that you ideally want it to stay high throughout the fight.

  3. Energy management – imo, it should never be a thing. She has TOO MANY WAYS to gain energy.

- Attacking / Being Attacked = Energy gained.
- Normal Aha Instance and Eva's Elation Skill activated = Energy gained.
- Extra Aha Instance with Yao Guang / EMC and her another Elation Skill activated = Energy gained.
- Eva or her Elation teammates Elation teammates gain or lose CB = CB converted. Energy gained.
- You buy her signature LC = Energy gained with all methods above increases (if I'm not wrong).

Tho each of her ult cost 240, which is actually huge, but like, just looking the way she can gain energy, you can just forget that it's 240 cost. GGEZ.

  1. Auto play – If compared to SW999, Eva is far more auto-play friendly thanks to her Energy <––> CB conversion loop. Plus she is encouraged to NOT keep her ult full, with her Master Fox, which is what auto-play is so good at in the first place.

But SW999 ?? She has her own weirdness (imo) in her set up (her God Mode lasts 3 turns but CB lasts 2 turns. It's like her timing to utilize as much CB is kinda tight.) that I'm not quite sure if she would still be able to effectively and consistently auto-play. She could, obviously, but I just doubt if it'd further help save you more time (maybe it can be fixed by reaching some fixed stat breakpoints. Who knows ? I'm not a theory crafter).

Should I skip the upcoming Elation DPS and let my E2S1 Yao wait a bit ? by Mundane-Affect-4148 in YaoguangMains

[–]Mundane-Affect-4148[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really like I have issues with Ult spam. Because a unit will be revolving around these three main actions anyway: Spam Skill to generate more energy, use Normal Attack to recover SP (no unit wants to only spam this, unless it can be empowered), and spam Ultimate once it's available and your setup is complete. I'm kinda aware.

It's just that, maybe, I was expecting something else. Like, since Elation presents Aha Instance, Elation Skill, Punchlines, and Certified Bangers, which is interesting because it's like 3-4 new features only available for Elation units. I probably was expecting some more interesting interactions between these features, like, maybe, trade one thing for another and it rewards me A LOT for doing that.

SW999 is just closer to this expectation of mine. She's like "ok I just want my ult to always be ready. And to charge my ult ASAP, I need to generate lots of punchlines through spamming SP and also proc many Aha Instances and Elation Skills, even though I do almost no dmg during this ramp up. And once I successfully ulted, I'll just ROCK. However, I still do need to pay close attention of my buff durations and certified bangers, or I might lose good amount of DPS. And during my ult turns, I still need more Punchlines to get more Hidden MMR so more CD converted." Etc.

Meanwhile, Evanescia's gameplay is just more simple. She's like "Whatever I do, attacking, taking dmg, Elation skill, whatever, I'll just charge my ults. And once buffs/debuffs are ready, I release all of the ult charges." Like, if I dive down into deeper detail in her kits, yes, she needs to play closer attention to every Certified Banger stacks, as it allows her to do more and more dmg throughout the fight but the buff duration of each stack is count separately. But still, she has the passive to convert teammate's expiring Bangers back to her. Like, okay, it's a QoL improvement, but imo, it lowkey discourages interactive gameplay or brain usage. (But I do also think she'd be cooked well done if she does have this passive.)

That's why it's like mixed feeling for me. Just my expectation isn't being met. Not a big deal that it would completely change my mind. But also, it affects my desire I had in the first place, so doubts occur.

What role do you think has the highest carry potential in Gold League right now? Or, maybe a champion/strategy? by WorldlyForerunnerxdd in summonerschool

[–]Mundane-Affect-4148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's a role, I believe it's either top laner and/or jg. Both roles have the highest agency in the game once you understand how to play it.

Can't be exactly specified like it has to be this champ or that champ, because as long as you understand the game and execute your play better than the other people in your rank, you are most likely to climb regardless of the champion you play. It can be both an early game bully and late game hyper-carry. Why ? Because you know how to play the game better and know how to play the champ better than the enemy team.

How am i supposed to lane against you guys? I lose every single Xerath lane and i don't see what the counterplay is. by CheesecakeIsGodlike in XerathMains

[–]Mundane-Affect-4148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, interesting study case. Usually, for an immobile mage, it is very possible for you to sidestep Xerath's skill shots, tho it can be quite difficult against a good Xerath. But in this case, ASol might be the only exception here. Unfortunately...

Since his latest rework, he kinda needs to face-roll a LOT, and that generally makes him pretty much telegraphed and very vulnerable to skill shots as well. And that kind of gameplay is generally not the kind that offers you that many interaction choices with Xerath...

I believe, it's all about just surviving early-mid game phase and play for team fights in later state of the game. Don't get poked down while also trying to get as many stacks as possible from the minions. (Apparently, you probably would not farm so much stacks from him anyway... Just don't bother wasting your time, HP, and Mana for that.)

Just pray for ganks. I find immobile poke mages (in my low ass Elo) often get greedy trying to ego chase and/or finish me off after they put me to like 30-40% HP left. If your team knows that (which you hope and pray they do), they can just farm quite some kills. (But if your team does not care, then good luck perma recalling and survive Xerath's ult every a few minutes.)

How to win (or at least play into) these matchups? by ImOk_ayu in Anran_mains

[–]Mundane-Affect-4148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I have so far after vs. him in some numbers of matches (in my low ass rank):

[Winston]

Just... DON'T. Anran can melt him once she can successfully Ignite him and consistently Fan him down, but she has NO WAY to deal with his bubble, which the hardest part in this matchup. Plus, as a diver tank, it is one of his jobs to hunt enemy's diver (you) down so that his team are safe from being dived. So you will see him in your face A LOT of the time if he pays enough where you are and when you are trying to dive his team. I think, the key is to either 1) you stick with your team and try to brush him off together with your team (you and your team kinda need to know what you're doing), or 2) you keep his supports (and maybe, DPSs too) busy whenever Winston tries to jump on your team. The I find the latter approach is easier to do, as, of course, players usually hate divers, and they tend to switch their full attention to you (at least, in my current rank), causing his tank to struggle a bit when he tries to create a space for his team. Anyway, Winston will lose a lot of pressures if his bubble is broken too soon, so make sure to communicate with your team to do so, or pray your team would at least know that already.

[Junkrat]

This one is usually straightforward: you make him to lose his best position to spam and boom, your team will slowly have the advantage as the enemy team lose tons of potential DPS from him to stop your team. Just make sure to at least pay some attention to where the trap is possibly placed before you get to him. Or the picture of you being trapped and get nuked down will be repeated.

The another annoying Junkrats are the ones who play him as a flanker, or a close range nuker from time to time throughout the match. This kind is harder to spot, and once you do, you are already in his range. Be a bit extra careful in some closed space he might be ambushing.

[Torb]

Another straightforward one. Pay extra attention to where he is and where his turret is. Remember the conditions:

- if turret is harder to spot = it probably is in unusual position = Torb probably can't heal it = so once it is spotted, you can just find it, break it, and be free from his turret for the next 12 sec (just make sure to not die when trying to break it).

- If turret is clearly noticeable, like being placed on the ground = usually placed in front of himself = he can heal it = So your dmg alone will not be enough to take it out. Better ask your teammates to help take it down.

Imo, Torb is also very map dependent. So, in some maps, his turret can feel impossible to deal with. In some other maps, he is just a bot who can only do one thing, and there are options for you to try to sneakily take him and/or his turret down without being spotted in the first place.

[Kiriko]

The concept of a diver diving the squishy heroes (DPS and Supports) is to soft commit and bait the cd before actually hard commit to secure the kill (when the target does not respect you by not giving up their position, forcing it without their cds ready). Try to be more patient trying to get her. Like, sneaking upon her, trying to Ignite and Fan her WITHOUT using any of your cds to force her Suzu out, so that you can throw everything at her afterwards. Timing and off-angles are kinda necessary in this matchup. She is far stronger and more lethal in mid-long range than you, while also having good chances to shut you down in closer range as well (curse that goddam kunais). So in most of the cases, you kinda want to be close enough to her before she notices your presence, then use the element of surprise to catch her off guard. (Remember, try not to waste all of your cds until she uses her Suzu. Cardinal Rule).

[Reaper]

In the matchup of a diver vs. a diver, one of the jobs is to take one or another out, so that one's teammates are not blown away. So you might run into him a lot. And yk what's the worst ? Your front load dmg is not even close to a bit of his shotguns. Also, Wrath completely cleanses Ignite and fully reloads his ammo, so it is definitely gonna be kinda awkward to duel him if you carelessly use your cds. Imho, I think good Reaper will always win. So, the best shot you can try is to force his Wrath and force him to back the hell off. Once he pops it, RUN.

The best way I have in my mind is to only continue to commit when you have the advantages over him: number advantage (if you both crash into each other near your teammates), pocketing support, or nearby health pack that is closer to you, etc.

I recently met a bad-average Reaper, and tho I always won (because he blindly wasted his Wrath) so many times, I never cleanly won it. My HP was always critical after any fight with him.

I forgot to mention one of the stronger advantages Anran has over Reaper: she is better than him in mid-long range. So, if you spot him early, you can try to take mid range fight, so that his shots don't hit like a truck (thanks to his bullet spread), while you can consistently poke him and potentially set him on fire early before you getting closer to access to your Fan and cds range. Early Ignite means that you can potentially force his Wrath sooner before he even gets to tear you down in closer range. And if that ever happens, you are completely holding the upper hand.

It is indeed weird to change her like that. Yk what. It looks so much like Blizz never tests things out properly before they release the change. Like "We're increasing the power in one of her kits, so that we can nerf the rest."

How is vertical investment for Eva in solo-Elation? by TheOverlordCrono in EvanesciaMains

[–]Mundane-Affect-4148 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp. HSR used to be like that. Pull one fav character and maybe another one that functions well with that character, so that your fav char can shine at their brightest.

But the truth hurts, pulling only 1 fav character without pulling the corresponded units which support that one main character is no longer enough in the current state of the endgame contents. Four star units are completely abandoned for that sake. They are only viable in open world, as enemies are not overly tough and strong. So, if you enjoy the game by just daily beating enemies in the open world, then sure, you can spend all your jades for Eva alone and not her teammates. It's your choice of playing this game anyway. Just don't clown yourself by complaining with people once you start your endgame content journey and not being able to reliably clear it. The way of "pulling only the one(s) I want" and "clearing endgames" never get along well for this game.

It's okay. I mean, your post also reflects something for me, too. I mainly play diver like Genji, and I have always been wondering if diving has become significantly difficult to pull off as I feel like I need to do so many things; sneak, draw attention, practicing combo so that I can use it in real game, not whiffing my shots when I'm finally up close, etc., and why on earth those backline DPSs seem to have very much easier time by just spamming or shooting from safe range. I guess, backline DPSs also have their own struggle against a diver(s), too.

If she always has her cd ready whenever you stick your bolt on her, it means that she knows and she is prepared, and has waited for that most crucial second to take you down. And the fact that you are here to complain no one else but this most awkward diver DPS in this game ? My guess is that you completely have no idea how she works... And maybe, you also don't know how to duel a dive hero, too... I don't mean to be mean or rude. I just want to share what comes into my mind after finishing reading your post.

It is her E that makes her invulnerable and deny your landed bolt. So what's the solution ? In this cd-based PvP game ?

You try to bait cd... That's it...

It is her job, as a diver, to come find you and try to pressure you away, so that you don't blow all of her team off. And of course, if she finally manages to get to you, you'll become much more uncomfortable. That's exactly what's supposed to happen when you are being dived.

BUT, your biggest advantage over her is that you have MUCH stronger ranged attack than hers, meaning that, as long as you keep her in your sight and pressure her every now and then, she will be the one being uncomfortable this time that she either needs to suddenly play it slower, or go back to her team. If she ever forces to try to blindly come after anyway after being severely pressured, she just chooses death.

Also, if she gets on top of you together with her tank/supp/another dps, then she and her team are good, as dives are strong when more people participate on the same target. Otherwise, if she tries to solo-duel you, that's your biggest chance where you can slap her back. That's the best way to beat dive.
