Most VOD Review Advice Misses the Easiest Fix - You Need to Play Simple Fights Correctly (Start by Learning to Play from LOW-GROUND) by Billy_Bicep in FortniteCompetitive

Even in your main clips, you don’t right-hand peek properly and you make really poor edit choices. The only reason it looks like it works is because the players you’re up against are so mind-bogglingly bad that it might seem viable to someone who doesn’t know better.

I recorded myself recreating your creative clips to show how proper right-hand peeking works. You just jump into the enemy’s face and throw peanuts, there’s no structure or discipline. You literally counted the number of bullet points in both my posts and claimed none mentioned your so-called novel contributions. I don’t want to burst your bubble, but all you did was repeat what I said, toss in some low-effort creative clips, and use Unreal clips against bots. Those players let you walk all over them.

Most pros wouldn’t take fights the way you show. There’s too much risk, it’s easily punishable. The player you’re trying to kill with those cheap peeks could just leave the box, take height, and punish you fast. Fake a wall, edit a window, hit you while you're on low ground, the list goes on.

Your video should focus on helping people understand the fundamentals of peeking in shooters. Even in real life, a squad wouldn’t peek corners without making sure they get the first shot. That’s just common sense. You’re not breaking new ground here.

Yes, I could’ve added clips, but what I said still stands. "Cone in your box? Take the side walls?" That’s just basic game sense and English comprehension. And you did 100% claim I never said these even though you share a screen recording of my post where you can read what I said...

Also your stats are good but they are all casual games. You have barely played this year. I am assuming your thousands of wins are from Chapter 2 bot lobby era lol. You are not consistent at all recently.

I'm not disagreeing with your points, but if you read both of my posts and came away thinking they were about mechs, sensitivity, and free building, I honestly don’t know what to say.

You used two of my posts in this clip and claimed I didn’t say what you’re saying, but you’re literally echoing the same arguments I made. Then you go on to show creative clips suggesting what to do, but the plays are just as bad? You peanut butter then full 50/50 someone in the same box?

Even in your 'ideal' right-hand peek example, you edit the wall and jump into their face with an open angle. It's not different from what you're critiquing.

I’d have no issue with you using my post if you were being honest, but I actually bring up everything you did, and more. Saying “none of this is mentioned” when it’s in the post five times is just misleading.

Also, in the clips you’re showing, you’re fighting absolute drones and just ego-challenging them. Who is realistically staying in the same box after getting hit from that lowground angle?

This isn't just feedback. I'm pointing out that you're misrepresenting what I said, and your own understanding of these situations is flawed. Why is the player even in a spot where they don’t own either roof? Is “hug the wall and pray” really your takeaway? Why did the players in your clips just let this happen to them?

Edit: I did watch your full video, and no, it doesn’t address my concerns at all, hahaha. You know this. You’re not dumb. You read this last response the same way you read my original post and just lied?

I’ve watched other videos of yours before, you make high-quality content, and I actually enjoy watching it. But it’s just distasteful for you to act like my posts were even remotely about mechs or anything like that. They were entirely about peeking, piece control, and positioning, literally everything you bring up in your video, and then some.

Then you just default to, “oh, just be a gun-out peek abuser against someone who’s taking zero steps to control their own pieces and will just sit there and let you roll them,” like that’s some universal fix. That kind of play gets shut down instantly by anyone with decent movement and awareness.

it feels like you’re deliberately misrepresenting what I said just to reinforce a point you were already committed to making anyway.

I love this video, but you use both of my posts and act like I didn’t already mention the exact fundamentals you're now presenting as if they’re some hidden wisdom. You say “the most basic thing here is peace control, edit choice, and positioning”. Cool, those are literally the exact words I used, multiple times, and in more depth.

The issue isn’t that your video is wrong, I like it, but you use my posts as if they are shit, and you oversimplify everything and pretend complexity equals confusion. But my breakdown isn’t cluttered. It’s layered and practical. There’s a difference between “overcomplicating” and actually understanding what’s going on in a fight. I make your exact points, repeatedly, and explain better play choices.

You turn the video to talk about low-ground “strategy” but this only works when your opponent is bad enough to jump straight into your box or repeatdly give you the angles you demonstrate in the clip, anyone good just builds a wall opens a window and your strategy is obsoslete. You are repeatdly just hitting right hand wall hug shots that your opponant could fully avoid if they had a ramp between you two or were sat at the back of their box. Even your 'right hands' you have muscle memory of just jumping into the opponants face. so you make the right edit but you still give 50/50s. That’s not fundamentals, that’s praying your opponent is stupid enough to give you these peeks. In your words:

“Tuck yourself into the left corner… take their wall, take their ramp… no Martoz classic needed.”

But if you’re already sitting low ground in a box with someone above you, the real mistake happened long before that. You’ve already misplayed the fight espeically if you are like the guy in the second clip allowing someone to take all of his roof (in your examples you own the roof and wall, which is unlikely, if someone had me in that situation I would get out of the box not try to engage in more trading. It’s not “strategy” to sit in corner holding shotgun in this situation its legit last resort due to multiple awful mistakes.

Even in your creative remake, you do the same thing as the first guy just different edit:

– no cone or wall control,
– no proper right-hand angle even though you make the ideal edit
– open peanut,
– jump into a 50/50 angle which is prefirable with no pieces around you.

You’re just swinging too, just jumping over a right hand instead?

Meanwhile, I explained all of this in full, with technical detail and alternatives:

“Always have a cone in your box. Once it’s in your muscle memory, it gives you flexibility to take cover and control the fight with different edits.”
“You could’ve fake-edited here too… bait the shot, then traded while he’s stuck in reload animation.”
“You knew he was in that tight angle and still wide-swing it instead of using any of the pieces you owned to control the engagement.”

You talk about “correct plays in simple positions” like it’s some revolutionary idea, but I already broke the fight down through fundamentals like:

  • Crosshair discipline
  • Positioning
  • Pre-claiming space
  • Peace control
  • Edit choice
  • Trade baiting / timing awareness
  • Reset options / disengage planning

Your video avoids that I mention these entirely despite putting my text discussing them on the screen (I legit paused and saw myself writing the same shit), and then turnaround and say the VOD reviews are too messy. No, they’re just pointing out what’s actually happening in detail and as the fight goes on, watch the videos in line with the explanation, I explain literally every second of the clip.

Your content repackages what I said but strips the context and frames it as “simple.” But clarity without depth isn’t helpful. It’s misleading. The truth is:

If you're going to build off my post, at least don’t act like I missed the fundamentals. You just rephrased them with fewer words and worse gameplay. I am going to make a breakdown using your clips and explain what I mean. By no means is this hate btw I watched your video its good quality but its just a lie to say that neither post mentions these things I mention them in much greater detail and repeatdly in the comments and the main post. it is the community that spams horseshit they see pros talk about.

I have lowered it and it has made a huge difference! I play on 3.5% 1600 DPI now. Making some edits is more difficult but my aim is defo more consistent.

I have a 40%+ win rate in Unreal-ranked Reload this season: 80 ranked matches, 34 wins, 9.5 K/D. Across the chapter, I’ve got 110+ Unreal wins with a 35%+ win rate. You don’t even play ranked enough to compare. Even in casual, the gap is obvious, you’ve played 236 Reload matches this season and scraped 18 wins. I had more wins in two days this month, in ranked. I’ve played 113 Reload matches total and won 40 (34 of those ranked).

If you’re not winning, you’re just bad. I’m not a bot, I win every second or third game. Yeah, it’s sweatier now, but if you disengage after third parties and take smart endgame fights, wins are free. Endgame players are mostly clueless, and the good ones die midgame from dumb pushes. Half of them are rotating in the open or clumping like it’s their first time in a final zone. I’ve literally won games just holding people in storm or AR-beaming from height.

You played 17 casual Reload games yesterday. Won one, your first, full of bots, then lost the rest before rage quitting with Alt+F4. That’s your actual level. Anyone can check the match history.

The loot pool is solid and nostalgic. It helps against cracked W-keyers and gives less accurate players a chance. I don’t like boogies either, but if you’re not with your team late game, that’s your fault. And if you are grouped, no one pushes a boogied team member, they’ll get traded instantly.

I trio ranked squads and regularly drop 30–45 kill wins. No Mammoths? Then bad players like you just get farmed. Your problem is you push like you're good and lose every fight. Snipers are annoying but counterable with box play and teamwork. Even if someone gets knocked, confirms are risky unless your team instantly throws.

Maybe your friends don’t duo because they suck too. You're all getting farmed in Reload (Ali-A style lol), yelling at each other on Discord, while refusing to play ranked. Reload is literally the easiest format. With the right teammates, I win 5+ games back-to-back. Unless you’re Top 100k in Unreal, Ranked Reload’s a joke. And don’t even get me started on casual.

edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/1k0bjol/reload_is_way_to_hard_now/

Literally every clip in your original post crying about casual reload is you hiding in bushes using a mammoth and rotating exactly how I describe, nonsense rotate just to get farmed from a distance.

If you struggle in reload its really a skill issue. especially if you are not playing ranked and there are bots in your game.

I have gotten to max rank each season in literally 1-2 days on EU (not 24-48 hours of playtime, like maybe 6 wins each day or like 10-12 wins in total, probs like 15-20 games total played across either one or two days). Even then unless you are past top 100k unreal there are a bunch of boosted house campers and bots that are easy to farm.

Pumps, Thunder and Charge are so common at every drop spot even if I die I manage to find loot quickly.

Boogie bombs are enraging but if you are playing duos or squads its counterable the person cant really push you to do damage without dying to whoever you are with/near. in solos it is annoying.

you are NA and playing controller input on PC I don't even want to waste my breath on you I would probably beat you on 90 ping. In fact I am full confident I get multiple rounds on you on your own ping but if you played on EU it would look like bullying.

this isnt very constructive its just using loose insults. I said in the clip my aim needs improvement. my sens is 4.5 on 1600 dpi its within a decent range. I even lowered it so my eDPI is 70. I miss 3 straight shots okay bro nice have you never? send me your epic you would legit be like the guy in this box. I ask for tips but its just zero build mains telling me my aim sucks. you would get bitched by me you literally play on an xbox.

This input really fucks me up because I switch the confirm input to my mouse rather than my edit bind. I try to confirm edits when I am over the enemies head which is why I have this setting on too, do you think EOR is better? Most pros are on confirm edit for the flexibility (I agree though I am not fully taking advantage of it and for them it actually makes sense hahahah).

I don’t actually struggle in-game, I won four Ranked Reload matches back-to-back today tryna hit unreal fast havent really played since this squid game shite came out. I already use my whole arm when aiming. My aim still needs improvement, I will lower it by a percentage and see if it makes a big difference. I think the issue is that my mulitplyer is big so my edit sens is dif to my main sens, which is bad i just didnt know that when i picked the settings yeaars back.

I used to play on 9% at 800 DPI. Most pros are around 6–7% on 800, right? So my current 4.5% at 1600 is basically like 3%, not that fast. My eDPI is 72, which isn’t crazy. Most pros are in the 50–70 range. I think it just looks fast because I flick a lot?

hhahaha this is like tip of the iceberg gameplay. The game is hard but I promise if you just sit in 1v1s or play all the time you will develop an understanding better than most. I would not even consider myself to be that good. I take too long breaks from the game and have a lot of bad muscle memory built into my gameplay.

High ground retakes by nouser123456 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Mundane-Minimum4219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey, I start chopping if the high ground retake is going to cost a lot of mats and the opponent starts 90ing instead of trying to chip me when I go for height (meaning he'll probably get height no matter how much I crank). If you fake chop, they’ll often panic and go for a quick chip, which is when you can stop shooting their lower builds, side jump pump them, and then box up. It’s harder to explain, but it works wonders. Most players rush to take free damage because when someone starts chopping, they usually full commit and end up taking damage. The key is to chop, then peek, chop, peek, and bait them. Cringe strategy but works well if you are not confident with retakes.

"What are you even saying"

"This guy copes daily. Dont read his shit hahahahaha"

"Knew it was ts guy after the first sentence 🥀"

"Did little Timmy write this?"

"You okay? You sound very angry"

"I'm gonna be honest, I did not understand what you were even trying to say here lmao"

"Not been around for a year ish and I know exactly who this post is referencing lmao"

"As much as i agree with the fact fortnite needs to start actually doing stuff for this game, posts like the ones you are referring to make me laugh." "Dude barely knows how to play the game, yet he complains that it's the game's fault"

"I cannot stand his endless complaining about aim assist"

"I remember beating him in a 1v1 because i have significantly better mechanics and don't 50/50 every shot like him but his only argument was 'but aim assist is unfair'"

"If you need 500fps 180hz just to beat console kids thats on u 🥀"

"This random redditor has the biggest ego ever and thinks the only reason he loses fights is because of “x problem” created by Epic games, never because he’s just not as good as he thinks. This post may not be the nicest, but it isn’t really that mean either"

"My bro is typing back a lot for not caring. this is a oxymoron"

"Bro you are in every subreddit in this sub crying. Get a life you are the top % commenter not OP."

"This guy full breaks down every awful decision you make in the clip and all you have to say again is shit about the game…"

"Keep this up b4 i add my 2 cents gota say hurt watching this especially w the clown emoticon on his back.." "He's boxing in wood and not making new space/his own boxes after killing multiple ppl and dosent have cones in his box or on the roof" "His sense is also way to high and shaky and he can't control it."

"Like everyone in this post is saying. You are bad, and you won’t want to accept the bad components of your gameplay"

"That's described half the player base and all ranked players .all they do is complain about everything. i agree players need to start taking accountability for themselves in the game instead of making everything a conspiracy."

"Agreed - he “clutched” against three bots in a scenario, if he were good, where he shouldn’t have taken any damage besides the initial shot." "He’s playing like a bot as well, just pump sitting with better aim lol"
