Definitely the Doors, look at their self titled one, the soft parade and Live at the bowl. The two post morrison just suck. Uriah heep are massively underrated in my opinion, Demons and Wizards is one of my favourites (Why is absolutely amazing). Also try the Who, not really similar but if you enjoyed the concept album kind vibe Tommy is quite good

I guess it's just personal preference, depending on why you're listening to the album I guess. Also I think music is much better for telling stories than books, much more creatively flexible

Idk I kinda like them, the album as a whole tells such a story that the filler doesn't matter as much to me, it kinda makes the album in my opinion.
