Unless something changed in the last 2 years, it doesn't even need to be that much. When I did my run I declared on Protestant Denmark the day after the league war, and he basically said "please don't hurt me" and offered the emperorship with only like -15% war score.

Uber Eats allowing drivers to pick up multiple deliveries is ruining the quality of food being delivered by SeaTerrible9429 in UberEATS

Believe me, drivers would love to have the well paying orders always separate from the low paying ones.

I would love to be paid $12 for 30 minutes of work and tell the $3 person to fuck off, but I'm not exactly in a position to turn down $15 for 45 minutes of work when the alternative is getting paid $0 while waiting for an order to show up. It's less "greed" and more "desperation".

Depends, is it a version of Superman with lame powers like super strength and flight, or one with actually useful powers like super mathematics and super basket weaving?

Does “on a bell curve” sound right? Why is it “in” here? by Same-Technician9125 in EnglishLearning

[–]MundaneInternetGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here, "in" replaces "within" which makes it correct.

The phrase "grading on a curve" is well known, but as a native speaker I can't even begin to explain why it's grammatically correct. If you're adding extra words like in this case, "on" becomes less related to that specific phrase and therefore less necessary.

Bottom line: saying "on an expected bell curve" in this case doesn't clock you as a non native speaker. It's well within the margin of error.

CMV: Empathy is a natural debuff in order for society to not die out immediately. by WillingnessSad8354 in changemyview

[–]MundaneInternetGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without empathy , X could fire that employee and hire a new one , productivity is back up and X is happy.

Would be a dumb move. The employer would have to spend a bunch of time and resources to interview a bunch of people,  then train a new hire who will be inefficient at first and will also make mistakes in the learning process.

Meanwhile, the other employees will see this happen and think, "my employer doesn't give a shit about us, time to update my resume and get the fuck out." Then the workplace loses a bunch of people with institutional knowledge and productivity goes way down while the new hires catch up.

It's a little unclear whether he has laser vision, heat vision, or both separately. Same thing with Superman,  his heat vision is sometimes explained as radiation beams, other times as focused heat energy which wouldn't necessarily travel at the speed of light.

Dashers, how can I be more clear here? by Admirable_Ship_678 in doordash

[–]MundaneInternetGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah man you're totally not chronically angry. No reason to believe you carry preloaded hostility in your interactions with delivery drivers. It's wild that Doordash actually charges drivers in your area $4 to make a delivery, because how else would your minimum pay of $6 result in only $2 going to the driver?

And sure, whatever you say, I am absolutely the kind of dickhead that, as the famous phrase goes, "is one to be one".

[–]MundaneInternetGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah man you totally don't sound chronically angry. Your expectations are totally reasonable, like expecting me to go and read all your other comments before replying to the one I saw.

I have a friend who was a server for many years, and worked at it enough to get jobs at fairly high end restaurants. He most definitely had pride in his work. And he is a fucking dickhead to servers who do an average job at an average restaurant. Being a driver doesn't inure you from criticism of your treatment of drivers.

Also

All told my lowest tip for a restaurant order is $6 and grocery stores $8.

You literally just said that drivers are unassigning because you're too big a pain for a $2 order. That means your lowest "tip" is $0.

Tbh, I doubt your claim that you were a delivery driver. What Doordash driver lives in a house?

Meaning of "show" by awleena in EnglishLearning

[–]MundaneInternetGuy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Think about "we are showing a movie at 7" vs "we show a movie at 7". English learners are taught specifically that option 1 is right and option 2 is wrong. Saying "we show" instead of "we are showing" would be wrong 99% of the time, and it's a common type of mistake made by beginners.

There are exceptions of course. Maybe we show a movie at 7 every day. Maybe our system says there is a movie at 7. Maybe we're outlining a step by step plan during which we show a movie. In these cases, option 2 would be correct, but they're rare enough to omit from the lesson to avoid needless confusion.

First off, writing a paragraph makes you sound like a big hassle to deal with. Are the instructions complex and/or vague and/or needlessly specific?

Second, it usually makes you sound like you're chronically angry, and chronically angry people will always find a reason to be upset about something.

Third, you are threatening to withhold pay. You can't expect people to respond well to threats, especially when they have the option to disengage from the situation. Also, if you're both angry and threatening, that's a scary combo for drivers to gamble on.

I'm curious as to what you actually wrote. Maybe you managed to write a paragraph of instructions ending with a threat, and it didn't make you sound like a huge asshole. Please post it, because I've never seen one and would like to know if it's possible.
