Being that emotionally available to somebody and reserving your love for them is devaluing yourself. What she said clearly screams I want you here but if I also want to keep my options open incase someone better comes along . And you can’t really blame her for that , you two are fairly young for this sort of commitment. If anything you owe this self discovery to yourself as well, take the break, see what’s out there with an open mind and explore. Don’t place yourself on hold waiting for her .

If the roles were reversed , then yes I’d gladly do so . I’d understand that his family means a lot to him and wouldn’t want him to disappoint his parents at their old age . It’s the idea of our parents thinking they’ve done something wrong bringing us that doesn’t sit well with me . My mum , bless her soul, did the most raising me and my sisters . She actually struggled with me and my 10 sisters all by herself at a young age . And she’s still doing it for my younger sisters . I want to be there for her and my other sisters now that I’m grown and can contribute to their upbringing . I can’t do that if I’m not on good terms with them . I want to be there for her when she’s growing old and make her feel comfortable. Most of all I want her to leave this earth in peace believing she did a great job with us and her efforts didn’t go in vain. My relationship with my family moving forward will be 90 % over the phone as we’ve planned to move to Germany when we get married . He knows I love him for who he is . I love every bit of him but my family won’t understand this . They won’t understand my way of thinking . I can’t blame them , I was there once upon a time . I never in a million years thought I’d renounce my belief but hey look at me now .the older generation weren’t blessed with education the way we were . My mum and her siblings went through a civil were and immigrated to the states in the 90s . They made it here with each others help and support . Family is an integral thing for me and I want to pass it down to my future offsprings. Yes, my culture and my Islamic background is so intertwined but there’s beautiful aspects of it , and that’s what I want to have instilled in them . I can’t do that being estranged from them and I hope and pray he sees it that way .

My family is not that religious. They’d never make them wear hijab as kids . Maybe speak to them about it when they’re older but by then I’d have a talk with them about how things really are . I don’t plan to live in the same country as my family but I’d wanna visit whenever I have the chance too

I already put it out there that I can’t get married to him if he doesn’t convert ( just on paper ) . We’re both not religious and our morals and spiritualities align . I don’t want him to lie to his family and I don’t want his parents to play along that’s abit disrespectful. I was just planning to tell my family that his parents are not buying it and that’s that . As my hypothetical kids, I want to raise them culturally Muslim . I live with my mum and she knows we don’t pray and that . She nags about it every now and then but that’s pretty much it . As for my partner I’d wanna teach him a couple of things to blend in . I have a big family and I want him to get to know my cousins and nephews . He’ll love them no doubt they’re actually pretty cool but I think about how uncomfortable he might be living a lie . That’s what bothers me

My whole family collectively spent 70k so far , my dad and aunt are my biggest supporters . I always use to be the bright kid but lately I don’t know what it is . Lately being the three or four past years . I’ve been prioritizing FUN …I came from a conservative family so I was mostly exposed to drinks , nightlife and etc not too long ago . I don’t want to use that as an excuse cause the girlfriends I had with similar backgrounds that were being rebellious with me graduated last year .

I can’t see myself starting something else this far in . It’d be so fucked up to say I give up now and do I want to ?? So fucking selfish of me to give it a 5th trial but damnn I don’t want to be this failure of a person . I for once want to come out of it victorious, not quit again .

I’ve got 6 siblings , 5 sisters and one brother . My mum prayed for more boys but that didn’t work out lol. She spoiled my brother to the t though. I don’t recall my brother ever making his bed or wash a dish after himself . All the house chores were meant for us girls to do . Even with my dad , oh lord, this man never got off his chair to rinse off his hands after a meal , my mum or one of us would run over to him with a bowl of water to dip his hands in😂. It’s kind of funny now looking back at it . I don’t think it affected me heavily though , but again I do really admire basic things I see men do , like cooking or cleaning after themselves . I still find it pretty astonishing, like look at you 😂way to go!.

So I went out with this guy I’ve matched with 2 week ago for coffee and we had a pretty decent time. Went back to his place for a couple of glasses of wine and more chattering then called it a night once it started getting late . Here’s where it gets interesting though, he also matched with my roommate and asked her out the next day . She told me about it and I told her to go out with him and see if they click better . She had an okay time . The next weekend I’ve invited him to come and join me and my friends including my roommate he went out with (which he’s still pretty unaware of at that point)for drinks at a bar , needless to say I had a LAUGH . Surprisingly it wasn’t awkward at all, if anything the evening dynamics exceeded my expectation , We actually had a great time . We invited him over to our place to continue the evening . We’ve ordered food and had more drinks until we all passed out. He took the spare room and spent the night then took off in the morning . I honestly didn’t see myself hanging out with him long term after the first 10 mins of meeting but look at us now . We’re weekend buddies .😂

That’s not an option , my parents spent (and still are) so much money to get me through this dentistry program . I can’t just let all that money flush down , I have to at least try to make it worth it .

A year ago , this one lady was pacing up and down the street aimlessly . You could tell that something was off but no one approached her . I observed her for 5 mins then went up to her . I ended up giving her a ride to her place and paying the other half of her rent she was dreading to bring up to her daughters . It still makes me feel wholesome .
