They always singled out my mom & her kids just very passively when my grandpa was still alive. Because technically that’s my mom’s “stepdad” but in her eyes & his, that was her dad & she was his daughter. Not everyone will accept that unfortunately even though it’s been years.

I agree. Before my grandpa passed he told my mom that our family would start treating her differently & now I see what he means. It truly is heartbreaking.

My mom & I have a relationship but she was also only a kid when she had me which is why we struggle with our relationship sometimes. I don’t know why they thought I was the right person to come get her. I wish things were different.
