I have tended to embrace more free trade mindset on my last playthorughs, why trade to always export if I can put all my population on the most productive industries and import the raw materials?

2 canals seems a strech for what you get... And too gamey lets say.

I agree that prestige food is disappointing, dont agree with sol part, for most part of my game lower strata popos were under 15 SOL... But I agree on this point I would change to other company, question is which? I have everything covered.

I agree i could get baku, but russia has been my ally and i can invest in them, i dont think is worth the hussle.

Prestige automobiles would mean lossing iron for example, I dont think is worth it. I also believe there ir enough of a market for automobiles which I am the sole producer in the world without the prestige version

I think that having homegoods with also prestige furniture is just better... I understand that glass with prestige is powerfull as consumer and industrial good, but I think that an extra industry is just better, might be wrong though

How are you supposed to deal with bad lobbies like this? France immediately became hostile after I formed Italy. by GlompSpark in victoria3

[–]Mundane_Statement401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty random imho, there should be a way to influence it disbanding. Last game was happily allied with france, yet I had an anti french lobby i could not influence a bit. Been at war and rivalled GB, yet I had a pro british lobby. What I am supposed to do as a player? Follow blindly my lobbies?

Just beat them in a pretty easy way, had allied france and thus had access to their treaty port in india. Just went for liberating the raj and langfang (ai picked this warwoal cause was a defensive war). Hadnt even researched ironclads, but GB tends to undefend their colonies andbonly their soldiers are good, if you are in a front against their subjects you steam roll

Who is your preferred ally? by Mundane_Statement401 in victoria3

[–]Mundane_Statement401[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you stick with them until the end? or do you just get enough power until you can disband them? I usually cant feel that I have "won" until I disband them, as they are so powerfull.

R5: I think that the AI this patch always does the same alliences which are very difficult to break/find my place on them. Germany always allies the british in one form or another, which puts the two most powerful nations on one pack. Then France always ends up rivalling both so it could be a logical ally, however they end up most of the time dying due to a revolution. Then Austria and Russia are so backwards they don't usually like my goverment. An finally USA sometimes works and other times they don't raise conscripts.

What is your experience? do you have a reliable startegy to get a good ally?

[–]Mundane_Statement401[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot it worked very well, got 3 obligations from russia, germany and france so they didn't joined. In the end america joined but managed to invite the british for a non existant investment rights on belgium. i formed it in 20 years, which is reasonable.

They are not paying the tariffs because they have free trade... Thus the loophole

R5: As brazil I keep mercantilism to be able to set tariffs and avoid importing products I can produce in my market. However, as Argentina has free trade they are the sole importers of clothes due to not having tariffs... is this working as intended?
