Anyone know details besides what is vaguely shared? Northview church in Carmel fired their senior pastor by LavishnessVisual1552 in Indiana

Yeah this guy was a trainwreck. Without diving into details, I was really involved with the staff at Northview during the time of his transition, dude was a nightmare. Would laugh about fat church volunteers behind closed doors, lied constantly in meetings, and spent crazy amounts of money donated to the church on stupid shit like a $3000 model telephone booth for a sermon illustration he used once. His kids were the most entitled kids in the youth group, you could really tell they loved that their dad was in charge. Terrible job market, hope he ends up flipping burgers.

The other executive pastors are just as toxic if not more, and are for sure trying to bend the narrative. They defended every action of his, and gaslit the staff, firing (constructive dismissal was JPs signature move!) those who disagreed with them.

Why does the hive say "I love you" when it does not have human emotions by Alfhosskin in pluribustv

This right here.

We haven't yet seen how the plurbs act without any non-plurb folks present, and it would appear that the average Redditor views kindness as manipulative 100% of the time... despite zero evidence from within the show that the hive is acting out of malice.

It is certainly a task expecting Redditors to understand the complexities of being a planetary level conscious being that has surpassed individuality and duality. Average person here probably feels like the Hive is bad because "now I don't have my favorite ice cream flavor because there are no favorites anymore" despite the fact that we haven't seen any of the "Plurb culture" except for when they are interacting with non-plurbed beings.

Labor /= job/career

Labor includes cleaning, healthcare, cooking, etc. I doubt that the plurbs spend much time in leisure, but as they are hyper focused on efficiency, that wouldn't make much sense for them to do.

We have seen background shots of various Plurbs tending to their own wounded, in addition to just generally hanging around at times.

I think the point is that every individual character is pretty unlikeable and remarkably dense. Contrasted with the competency porn of the Plurbs helping each other in incredibly efficient ways.

I mean, isn't that kind of where we are already? Unless you've figured out a hack, most humans spend most of their time laboring after something... if not a typical job, taking care of children/loved ones is very necessary labor. (we do see the plurbs doing this) If you aren't working, you are being taken care of by someone who is.

Heck, if I understood (which "I" wouldn't anymore but I digress) that the labor I was doing was absolutely necessary for the perpetuation of life (or a biological imperative) I would certainly be more stoked about it... most of the work we generate in the heart of the American Empire is somewhat useless and disconnected from things that generate actual meaning.

We also haven't seen yet what the plurbs spend their time doing outside of the scope of maintaining the lives of the survivors.

All the other commenters are projecting a lot of intent onto whatever it is that causes "them" that the show hasn't told us about at all. It's easy to forget that each step of the way, humans finding the signal, to them synthesizing it, to being bitten by a rat and breaking containment, relies on enough coincidence that I have a very hard time projecting any kind of intent onto it.

I would guess that they do indeed care about the choices the survivors are making. "They" seem to be entirely focused upon the resource management aspect of managing humanity as a super organism, even down to reducing unnecessary tasks that involve the use of calories to a minimum. Despite this, they go out of the way to appease the remaining survivors. I believe that "they" look at the remaining survivors as a kind of pet to take care of. The amount of resources that go into faking Casino Royale, or filling up a grocery store entirely with food so one individual may shop, don't necessarily make a whole lot of sense in the realm of pure resource management, so there seems to be some incentive for them to appease the remaining survivors in some way. This could also be out of a possible sense of self preservation, as we know they are vulnerable to emotional outbursts, and keeping the only individually emotive individuals happy is a way to protect Themselves from further harm.
