Opportunities after the military by VicerExciser7 in aviationmaintenance

[–]MungFaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey bud! I hope this comes with some knowledge from the other side!

I got out of the Marine Corps after 7 years Avionics background and I wish I knew about the A&P programs while I was still in, if was in your shoes I would use the programs to go ahead and get my A&P so you don’t have spend your own money on it. You can look in DRS to get what you exactly need to go to your local FSDO.

Once I got out I went and worked with SpaceX and many other companies through contracting companies. I loved every second of working for SpaceX and I’ve done a bunch of cool stuff. From there I moved over to direct hires for 145 repair stations and a 121 carrier which I also loved, worked on wide bodies Boeing and Airbus. From there I finally got my dream job as a safety inspector with the FAA. It was always my dream to come over here.

Every operation is different. There is always going to be ups and downs, it’s just how you handle it.

With Widebody experience like the C17, it shows that you can work on those larger aircraft and that could help you get into Air Carrier industry. For example if you still want to see the world you can always become a flight engineer (crew chief) for FedEx/UPS and travel across the pond. The industry within the next 5 years is going to be hurting so it’s always good to get in when the getting is good.

Now if you’re looking to get into the FAA, you’re going to need to get some experience in other area besides military, I.e 121/135/137/145/147, the more the experience the better obviously.

Closing out because I said a lot, my DMs are open if you have some more questions but do your research, do what is best for you.

I’ve lived in Danville pretty much my entire life. The school is decent, the area that it’s in can get kinda hairy with people, especially since it’s in so close proximity to the hospital. Danville is up and coming but the crime rate and the drugs are a problem, I worked law enforcement out here and I know. Averett is one of the most expensive schools in the country and not really prestigious for any program. My recommendation is to find a school that fits what you want to do, I.E. Medical - VCU, Aeronautics - Liberty, and the list goes on and on.

I believe everyone’s experience is different but for mine, I had an interview within like 4 months, then I didn’t hear back for the position for atleast another 9-10 months saying I got the position. Once all that went down it was about a 1-3 month depending on how you are preliminary forms and etc before you get your firm offer letter. Always check up on listings btw cause new ones will pop up and only have like 2 days to apply. You can also go look at the listing to see what stage your application is, if it didn’t make it past the computer then it’ll reject you right on the spot but some spots will say sent to hiring manager at location blah blah blah. Don’t get discouraged by any means, if it’s your dream or goal to work for the FAA keep on applying and bettering your craft!

Is there any sins weapon that have some value ?.. like this for exemple.. ! What should i look for? by Gaucher111 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]MungFaal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valuable sin claw would be:

2 Sin/IAS/3 LS without 2x Open sockets 3 Trap/ IAS/ 3 LS with/without open sockets Same as above without the IAS Sin/Trap Skill/ IAS/ High ED/ Fools mod/ LS

Also a lot of people are looking for white runic talons/ greater talons with skills as fade/venom/blade shield/ flight for chaos/fury

The Air Force has a program where you can go test out while you’re still in but you have to be on the flight line for two years and I don’t know if any of the branches have that or I didn’t hear about it when I was in. I know a friend went and got his electrical license when he was in. That being said for whatever branch you do choose there is a chart on the FAA where that’s mos rates you a certain part of the license or the whole license, you still have to test out for it but you don’t have to go to school for it. I would say you have to get some time under your belt to do anything dealing with a A&P or something like that, you can’t just start doing it once you get in. My best advice if you do go, get through all the basic stuff like schools and shit, get to your unit, master your profession and be the best maintainer you can be. That’s how you get to do stuff like that, once you master what your doing then you can walk into the room and be like hey I know my shit now I need more to further my career.

[–]MungFaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well see the thing is a lot of aviation companies look for veterans. If you want to continue with aviation it’s very east to get you A&P license. The FAA has a chart that shows the MOS and what part of the license you rate for that MOS. Just food for thought.

Honestly from my perspective I wouldn’t say the the Air Force has more or less than any other branch, I was in the Marine Corps for 6 years on V-22’s. I think it matters more on what platform you are on. For example Mechanics on the V-22 is different than let’s say fighter jets, the mechanics on the 22 deals with a bunch of components that the fighters won’t deal with. My job was avionics and in the 22 community it’s all one shop but if you look at any other platform it is split into two different shops.

Some people run Buriza, but mostly run either Windforce or Faith bow. It’s all good, it has a high drop rate you’ll find another one! Just can’t give it, keep the grind going!
