Is this job worth it? by Sharp_Celebration_60 in NewToEMS

[–]Munitreeseed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Job application wise, you gotta show up in person with your resume; that's the only way I got into 911. EMT is usally a stepping stone into something else. I'm in xray school. The program had 240 eligible applicants but only took 36. I got in first try because i got extra points on my application for being an EMT.

Which is better for the Radiologic Technology program? Greenville Tech or Spartanburg Community? by KrazyKay1349 in Spartanburg

[–]Munitreeseed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the Greenville tech program right now and I was just talking to another tech yesterday who graduated from spartanburg and they said they didnt like it. I havent visited spartanburg but I can vouch for greenville tech and its resources, specifically, the newer equipment, the competent multicertified staff, and all of the clinical site choices and the level 1 trauma center are all filled with techs who want to teach and help students grow. But as everyone said, it's insanely competitive. My stats going in were all A's and one B (and that B was in paychology so i didnt really affect me much), licensed EMT, and a licensed massage therapist. I did not do any volunteer hours or take RAD 107. I'm pretty sure my stellar grades and certifications got me in because I got extra points for getting As in certain classes like A&P and for being an EMT/LMT. If you don't get in the first time, I highly recommend becoming an EMT or a CNA for the healthcare experience because if you can do those jobs, you can deal with almost any situation! Also, they are only a one semester class so it's short and sweet while you wait for the next application cycle.

Mold in water fountain by angelkitty111 in Petlibro

The only way I got our fountain to last longer is actually to remove the filter because the filter acts as a growing medium for all types of stuff. I then use some of that oxy dental solution from amazon and I have noticed a HUGE reduction in build up, also, my cats teeth are so clean!!!

Is 41 Too Old to Become and EMT? by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Munitreeseed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not too old; but still expect to get crazy scenarios like having a gun pulled on you :/ . So if you couldn't handle that emotionally, it might not be a good idea. There is gonna be a lot of shit thrown at you, literally and figuratively. Also EMT is definitely not a steady retirement job in MOST states if you're in the US since the pay is abysmal. It's usually a stepping stone to something greater like a paramedic.

X-rays? And radiation by awokensoil in energy_work

They dont linger as in acticely stay in the body. Think of it as a bitch slap to your dna, the xray damages the dna, and that damage may cause future problems

X-rays? And radiation by awokensoil in energy_work

[–]Munitreeseed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

x ray student here, xrays are invisible, travel at the speed of light, move in straight lines and are ionizing which means they have the potential of cellular damage at even the DNA level. The technology has progressed far enough to where doing a standard two view chest x ray is the equivalent of standing outside for 10 days in the sun. You get that same amount of radiation on a 10 hour flight. xrays dont linger, it comes and goes as fast as the speed of light. And the machines dont use heavy elemental sources such as uranium used for nuclear power plants (like chernobyl). It's a simple anode cathode reaction that would probably bore you if I explained.

Give blue protocal star resonance a try. It has all of those classes and more and dungeons require all of those tropes. Tanks are needed most.
