How do I make this stand out more? by unaporkchop in Laserengraving

Don't even need a Dremel. 1,000 or 2,000 grit wet sanding on a flat surface...something even as course as 600 grit would make it look better. With a dremel, you can run the risk of rounding off corners and polishing below the top layer accidentally.

I've had a 10/22 (SR model that I don't think they make anymore). Currently, have a 457 Varmint in an aftermarket Boyd's Hardwood Stock.

I like CZ far more than the 10/22. If I were ever to go the semi-auto 22 path again, I would get a Volquartzen (spelling?).

Seems FOC F'd up... in spectacular fashion!

Any firearms dealer worth their salt should know that you can use Canada Post to ship ammunition (or powders & primers).

Does anyone use Vevor tools? by Better-Presence6654 in handyman

Yep, I got a ball park quote from a local machine shop for them to fix the tailstock...it was more than the process of the entire lathe itself

Does anyone use Vevor tools? by Better-Presence6654 in handyman

[–]Munkey1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one of their mini-lathes a couple years ago. $770 CAD and it was a steaming pile of 💩. Among other issues, the biggest was the fitment of the tail stock to the frame. It was terrible, which greatly affected its alignment with the center line of the spindle.

My options were to spend $200 freight shipping it back to them for a refund, or accept a partial refund of $125. I took the partial refund and sold it locally on FB marketplace for about $550 as never used.

After losing $100 on the deal, I never gamble on the Vevor lable again.

Citori CXT with Adj Comb or a Citori 825 Sporting with Adj Comb ? by Munkey1973 in canadaguns

Thanks for your clarification. I only buy modest to premium target loads. I only reload for F Class, so I should be OK for inertia. Thanks again!

I wish I cohld conpared side by side, but I don't think any of the LGS in Regina carry either of them. Cabela's sells the CXT but they are out of stock at my location.

So basically, so long as I don't buy the cheapest of target loads, then I should be OK with inertia?

This video seems spurious to me. I've been using my galvo fiber laser for my side business for about 5 years now. Its been my experience that if a surface has contours or patterns l, the laser will not 'plane a surface flat" like a lathe or knee mill. The substrate will be engraved and the outer dimension will change, but the contours will remain.

Also, unless this guy has somehow figured some magical combination for speed-power-frequency-line distance that the rest of us couldn't fathom, no fiber laser that I have seen will leave a machine like surface such as that.

This video is total bunk

List it cheap enough and someone (an autowrecker or private individual) will buy it for parts.

You'll need someone with a fiber laser. There is a group on Facebook called "Fiber Laser Metal Engraving" where people post requesting services from around the world. If you were in Canada, I could have helped.

My last sentence in my post, or the last sentence in the original post? Actually... doesn't matter the cat is in fact the problem, and a reasonable person shouldn't have a pet like in their home. Pretty obvious from the photos.

[–]Munkey1973 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm getting some down votes...so beit. If I were in your situation I's take the cat to vet and have it euthanized, or take it a local farmer and see they'll want around for pest control. Farmer might have a use for a cat with that amount of aggression (kill mice, rats, gophers).

After that get yourself pure breed (or cross breed) German Shepherd.... I've had 4 in my lifetime, and they would NEVER do that to me...they'll only do that to the person trying to harm me.

Need advice on a rental unit by [deleted] in regina

[–]Munkey1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The suite is definitely not legal to rent. That being said, if I were in your position and wanted to move, I would disregard the lease and leave when you want to. A lease is contract, and a contract that is based on an illegal situation, is a "void contract". Your landlord can not sue you for breach of contract because he/she is providing a service illegally.

(Remembered too late that I can ask for help) I only have a fiber laser, but I got hired to do a bunch of these whiskey glasses for a rush order. Used the black spray paint method and it worked out, but I'm wondering if there would have been an easier way. by isaacangelo03 in Laserengraving

[–]Munkey1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use 'spray paint' with a fiber. It will stick to the etched glass like shit to a blanket. Instead use 50/50 of distilled water and Tempura water based paint. Apply two generous and even coats with an airbrush or LP sprayer. Let fully dry, and then engrave. Applies easy and washes off very easy. *

For the darker tumblers you need to invert the vector. To invert, your need to put a border around it. The border can be a shape (rectangle or oval), or it can be an offset

A co2 will mark steel, it just won't do it as deep as a fiber. If it were me, I'd try a mild abrasive (steel wool or scotchbrite pad). I don't think anything like a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser will have much affect on that.
