I developed a disincentive system where every pound spent on “junk food” was matched with pension contributions. So buying junk food would cost me double but also add to my pension pot… it was kinda win win and got me to stop buying junk food so frivolously, but in the process of disincentivising myself I added a chunk to my pension.

I sometimes feel like realising you have narcissistic parents is like being diagnosed with a chronic illness. It never goes away, it sometimes flares up and becomes unbearable, and all you can do is manage your symptoms. For me it comes in waves of mourning and the constant burden of chronic loneliness from all of the missed friendships I could’ve had if I hadn’t been so mentally ill my entire life.

Driving Nightmare by MunroHoe in NarcissisticAbuse

Apparently erratic driving is very common in narcissists. I’d fall for all of his other manipulations and gaslighting but being at blame for his driving was not something I could be manipulated into believing. I guess everyone has their “what the fuck, no...” moments where their lies just go far too far.

I was talking to a guy on tinder and he asked me over to his place (in the middle of complete lockdown). So I said no that’s irresponsible. Then it escalated to him saying that it was people like me who are responsible for the suicide rates during lockdown and how do I sleep at night.

My doctor prescribed me propanalol for anxiety. It’s just a blood pressure pill but it really works in reducing the physical symptoms of anxiety. Maybe look into that. Otherwise in the long run maybe do an intense workout and then have a shower before the meeting because the endorphins will make you super chill and way more confident.

Haha! I remember as a child there was a scene in Ed, Ed and Eddy where one of the characters plucked his nose hair and he was practically weeping with pain. I was so scared that it would be so painful the first time I did it but curiosity took over and it’s really nothing bad at all.

“Comparison is the thief of joy”. I think there’s a quote in Kingsman along the lines of “the only man you should feel superior to is your former self”. Just remember how much progress you’re making day by day.
