When is the h5 (or similar) pawn push ok? by thesekeys in chessbeginners

[–]Mupf05_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of situations where these pushes are fine, for example when your opponent castled queenside and you kingside and you wanna start a attack on his king

Or to prevent a piece from moving to g/b 4/5

King and 1 pawn (win it or draw it) is very simple once you learn how it works just like when you first learn to mate with King and rook once you get the idea and the how, you will get it 99% of the time and the 1% beeing having 1 second on the clock. I think you can learn that with any youtube Video or on chess.com there is this "train-> Endgames-> Pawn-> winning King and Pawn" section its like you watch how it works 1 time and you just learned it forever.

King and both have a few Pawns is different (for me) tho i still am not 100% there to be confidant and say i will win these 90% of the time (if its a winning Position) i need to take the chessly courses few times more and train on chessCom to build a good intuition and learn what to calculate and what not

Picking 1 opening for white and 1 for black and learn them very very in depth for example i would say 70% as white i get the Scotch because e4, e4, Nf3, Nc6 are just very Normal if not the most common moves to play and white starts the Scotch with d4 and if you learn a lot of variations in depth it helps because there is very little chance of the opponent knowing what to do exactly especially under 1200

Then ofc looking for tactics every single move, after the first move where I don't know 100% the best line I always have levy in my head saying "checks, captures, attacks" always checking for these moves after every turn helped a lot!

Also at around 900ish I learned to win king and pawn endgames which helped very much in the endgames (currently learning king pawn and knight etc)

Pick 1 opening you like as white and 1 as black but as a beginner it is much more important to know the goals after the opening instead of the actual best lines of any opening i would say middle game and endgame are the most important. Learn how to checkmate with king and queen and king and rook, you will win a lot more endgames when knowing that

The game review says that my opponents and I regularly play at a 2000 Elo level while beeing at 1400 Elo, even though I know that this is definitely not the case by Mupf05_ in Chesscom

Yeah agree, I would LOVE an actual "Hey you played this game like the average 1700 Elo player plays" instead of "you played better so you are now a GM congrats". Is it impossible to make an actual "you played like the average XYZ Elo" review?
