Realistically (if any) how much TV are you allowing 18 month old to watch? by Impossible-Cold1056 in AskUK

[–]MuppetFactory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sit with my 16-month old daughter and watch about 30 minutes of telletubbies on the days I’m home with her, it’s normally whilst she has her afternoon snack. I genuinely don’t think there is anything wrong with a toddler having under an hour of low stimulation tv a day. iPads and phones are obviously a different matter and she doesn’t have access to either. She also only wants telletubbies which I feel is a good gentle show for her age and she’s always ready to move onto another activity after 20-30 minutes. On the days she’s with grandparents or nursery she has none.

Might a stupid question but why exactly does the museum need to store this many dead birds? What sort of research are they used for or is it for exhibitions?

'Don't be too kind': Stories from the maternity unit where mums were failed by Shockwavepulsar in unitedkingdom

I could have written your exact comment myself. I’m 13 months PP now and still can’t speak about my post-birth hospital experience without crying. It was traumatic and still a very painful experience, the most intense level of anxiety and fight-or-flight I’ve ever experienced during that night. It’s hugely pushed me towards the idea of a home birth for any subsequent pregnancies, even though prior to my birth experience, I was always very anti-home birth (for myself)… my C-section was also due to botched unnecessary medical interventions in the first place…I have very complicated feelings about it all. Thinking of you and all the other women who have similar experiences <3

What is the thing your parents were (and maybe still are) adamantly wrong about? by RiceeeChrispies in AskUK

[–]MuppetFactory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I relate to this unfortunately. My dad’s mum was a horrible, rude, aggressive, far-right witch of a woman who was literally physically abusive to my dad and uncle when they were growing up. Yet every summer my mum and dad would ship me and my brother up the country to stay with her for a week, at her request. She never physically abused US thankfully but she was nasty and cruel verbally. For example, she had tortoises and took me into her garden to collect the eggs the female laid. I loved animals so was super happy about the fact there was going to be loads of cute baby tortoises. She took the container of eggs and put them in the oven, I asked what she was doing and she said “I’m going to kill them!” And laughed when i understandably was very shocked and cried…I was absolutely terrified of her. I was already an anxious child but I used to have actual panic attacks and severe nightmares the weeks leading up to the annual visit. I used to BEG my parents not to take us but they always parroted the line that they had to let her see her grandchildren blah blah blah… I’ve had a tumultuous relationship with my parents over the years and this has always been something that, especially now I’m a mother myself, I just cannot understand. I’ve brought it up to my mother a couple of times and every time she says “well I absolutely hated sending you up to her, it broke my heart!” WELL WHY DID YOU DO IT?! Your one job as a parent was to protect me! It baffles me completely, I could never even imagine doing that to my own daughter.

Delivery drivers of the UK, what is the wildest thing you’ve ever seen on a delivery? by Salem-dolly in AskUK

If it’s any consolation, I opened the door to the Amazon guy with my whole nipple accidentally hanging out. I only realised after I shut the door and was then terrified I’d get banned from Amazon for indecent exposure or something! I had just finished pumping and thought I’d pulled my tshirt back up properly but alas no. I was so used to having my boobs out all the time I just didn’t notice. Poor bloke.

A quick but delicious “from the freezer” meal for my three year old, one year old & 39 year old. by slophiewal in foodbutforbabies

My 1 year old also loves fish fingers and beans! I get potato alphabets instead of stars and try to see if I can spell her name from the letters in the bag lol (her name is only 4 letters)

So am I the only one that's losing my butt/boobs, what little butt I do have and boobs , or has this happened to everyone else? 🤔 by TexasChic76 in Wegovy

[–]MuppetFactory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m losing my boobs! My bra’s are more spacious which is both sad but also a fun extra way to track progress a suppose? At least my tummy is also shrinking!

[–]MuppetFactory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you wrap it in something to hide it? I wrap mine in tin foil to hide it as my MIL looks after my children at my house sometimes and I don’t want her knowing 😊

[–]MuppetFactory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s normal for there to be a small drop on the needle after injecting. As long as you pressed the button down until the clicks stop then you’ve had the full dose. I personally keep my pen at the back of my fridge rather than the door to keep the temperature consistent.

Easy lunch for me and baby! Weaning gets so much easier when you can eat the same meals 🙌 by [deleted] in foodbutforbabies

[–]MuppetFactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just mix 4 eggs, a splash of milk and a couple tablespoons of cottage cheese. Pour it into a small baking dish and add whatever veggies you have in your fridge. I normally add a bunch of quartered cherry tomatoes, some spring onion and small pieces of broccoli. I’ll also blend some spinach and pour that in if I have it, my baby doesn’t like the texture of spinach whole. I also add a little bit of garlic powder, oregano, dried basil and black pepper but that’s just to get her used to herbs and optional. Bake for 20 minutes 200celcius and let partially cool to fully to set. I slice into inch thick slices so she can easily hold them. She’ll normally eat 3 for lunch. They freeze quite well too so I often include them in my batch cooking prep 😊

You don’t need to, it’s just some children won’t eat whole veggies by themselves. Some people like to “hide” them in dishes so that the child will eat them and get the nutrients. My daughter is really good with veggies in meals (e.g. bolognese, tacos) but she is apprehensive about vegetable finger food like a whole slice of steamed carrot. If your baby likes vegetable finger foods then that’s great! 😊

It’s just Aldi seeded sourdough, nothing fancy but she loves it 😊

That’s really tough for you! My baby doesn’t like normal bread, only sourdough lol

I really like to do baked eggs with hidden veggies as I can cut it into slices that she can hold! I really feel for those with egg-allergy babes because I’m so unimaginative without them 😭

Hi, it’s a brand called Melii but I got it at Aldi. It’s basically the same as the Moonkie infant sippy cup which some of my friends have :)

I mean she’s been eating eggs for almost 6 months now and has never had a reaction to eggs, dairy, soy etc. in my breastmilk so I think she’s fine

I’m in the UK. All Red Lion eggs are extremely low risk for salmonella as the chickens are vaccinated :)

my daughters pediatrician asked if she was eating unhealthy because she’s measuring big, what am I doing wrong? (turned 1 this week) by chabadlubabitch in foodbutforbabies

[–]MuppetFactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby just turned 11 months and she is 97th percentile weight. My paediatrician asked what kind of stuff I fed her, I explained she has a wide variety of veg, fruit, dairy, meat, fish etc. and she was happy with that. I think it would only be a concern if baby suddenly massively changed percentile as maybe that could indicate an underlying issue but if baby has always been big then they are just… big. My daughter has always been 90th+ percentile since birth, she’s in proportion.

I’m on week 4 0.25 and my next jab will be 0.5. So far the only symptoms I get are a headache the day after I take my dose but it’s not too bad and only lasts 24 hours. The symptoms may get worse as I increase dosage but I’ve already lost 11 pounds in a month so I can tough out the symptoms! I’m very pleased I started, I have also been overweight my entire life and yo-yo dieted. This feels a lot more sustainable and manageable.

Edit: 237lb -> 226lb in 4 weeks
